Batgirl returns to Adelaide

The signings just keep coming.

I know it was mentioned in the Hill thread but figured it deserved a thread of its own.

World Championship Gold Medalist and long time Opal Suzy Batkovic is the latest big name to sign with the Lightning for season 2011/12.

Although Batkovic only played in Adelaide during the CABL season local basketball fans would have seen her, and she made a big enough impact to win a Halls Medal.

Huge signing for the club.

She didn't play in 2006 World Champs so not a gold medallist. Was getting a nose job at the time.

Good signing none the less. Interesting to see whether the signings will translate to on court success.

All over the Canberra media tonight about how the Cap's have lost her to a "lucrative" lightning deal - now THATS unfair, for Marino to pick on an underfunded, financially stretched community-based organisation like Canberra. - looks like Cap's will need to get the local government to find another lazy $200K and get LJ back into the team , just so that they can avoid the bottom of the WNBL ladder.

true , the local rag reports that the caps are offering LJ a mere $2 mill to sign a contract to in 3 of the next 5 WNBL seasons.

By tonight's TV news , Adelaide T-birds (netball) was announcing , that US College Basketballer
Carla Borrego , had been signed for another 3 years.
Meanwhile , Gretel Tippet's brother plays for Adelaide Crows.
Then , maybe Vince Marino could talk to them.
Still, tickets would be selling like gold dust, if they played for Lightning and how much press that would get, you'd want Adelaide Arena.
