Australian basketball donate goods to Pacific
Australian basketball groups donate goods to Pacific Island
The Wollongong Hawks, the Perth Wildcats and the Australian Institute of Sport have donated over 50kg of basketball clothingand more than 40 leather basketballs to Pacific Island Federations.
The 40 kg donation of brand new goods from the Wollongong Hawks includes tiny supporters t-shirts right up to size 3XL playing shorts and singlets. Also included are minibasketballs, shoulder bags and tracksuit pants.
The Perth Wildcats donations included polo shirts and assorted playing singlets.
The AIS Basketball program donated over 40 leather size 6 and siz 7 basketballs that are no longer required. Although the balls have been used previously, they are in perfect condition and will find great homes across the Pacific.
The goods will be delivered to some Federations during the Pacific Games in Noumea, while other goods will be sent as rewards to Federations who are conducting development programs for young children.
FIBA Oceania, on behalf of our Pacific Island Federations, would like to sincerely thank the Wollongong Hawks, the Perth Wildcats and the Australian Institute of Sport Basketball program for their most generous donations. We know they will be worn or used proudly across the Pacific, and if previous experience is anything to go on, we might see the Hawks uniforms on the winning team at a major tournament in one of our coutries.
