NBL to announce Blitz: Sep 22-24

Basketball Australia Chief Executive Officer Larry Sengstock will join Queensland's Minister for Sport, the Hon. Phil Reeves MP, at a special National Basketball League event announcement tomorrow (Wednesday 31 August) at the Chandler Arena in Brisbane’s Sleeman Sports Complex.

Sengstock and the Minister will be joined by Gold Coast Blaze team members including Boomers star Adam Gibson to unveil full details of an NBL event that will be hosted in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast from 22 - 24 September this year.

Blitz.

Worst keep secret.

And less then a month away, surely the NBL should have announced this 6 months ago.

NBL have sent out an update; no Gibson now:

Sengstock and the Minister will be joined by Gold Coast Blaze team members including young stars Chris Goulding and Jason Cadee to unveil full details of an NBL event that will be hosted in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast from 22 - 24 September this year.

There was a delay in the announcement of the Blitz as playing venues haven't been confirmed until recently.

An EOI was initially sent out to local associations here in SE QLD for those who wished to host games. Due to the expensive 'hosting fee' most baulked at the opportunity. So there's been a lot of running around in the meantime to sort out the situation.

The Gold Coast representing an event in Brisbane now that is just plain wrong in so many ways not even mentioning the long rivalry between the cities in just about everything.

Nice little junket there for you, DJ Rod ;)

I'm hoping we get some teams doing some youtube footage as it will be really good to see some of the new imports in action before the season (and fantasy leagues) starts...

I'll try to cover as many teams/players as possible... problem is Crocs have a game in Rockhampton & 2 on the GC. Would have been perfect if it was the same set up as Darwin
