Majok Deng is the Truth

Amazing.

Came on late in the third of the grand final and there didn't seem to be a shot he didn't change. Totally changed the game and was the big reason why Forestville got the W. Stats don't tell the whole story.

If this kid gets into a good college where he can learn and play who knows how far he can go.

For anyone who has met him he is an absolutely great kid, a real gentle giant and also an intense competitor. Also only picked the game up in November 09.

Well done big fella.

Andy used him well. Mottram banged away for nearly 3qtrs and then Deng came on and just added a spark and enthusiasm that changed Foresrville for the better.
As good as Tucker was Deng was the match changer that got Forestville the win.

We need to look at these kids from this small community! They have unbelievable athleticity!! Majok performance in the final was outstanding. He scared the pointers from Norwood, driving to the basket. I believe there are some kids from Sudanese community with the same ability as Majok, and local districts should look into recruiting them. This unsung community can change the whole face of basketball SA!!!

Scott Freer has recruited a couple of Sudanese guys down at South for this youth league season. He was also Majok's division three coach at Forestville.

A few other coaches should look at giving these guys a chance, currently the only clubs they really seem to get a chance at are Forestville or South (now that Freer is there).

Played against Majok in a social basketball game at MARS on a Wednesday night a few months back. His ability to alter shots is definitely his biggest asset.

There were a whole bunch of Sudanese guys playing in a scratch match before the game and a couple played with Majok in the game against us. Aside from Majok, there was one that played for Norwood and a few others that were decent. Athletically they were amazing, throwing down dunks everywhere, but they weren't the greatest skills-wise. They would have all been young though with plenty of time to develop.
