newc & bris stability affected by nbl/ broadcaster

bad enough for the current teams but when the league is a noose around tens neck, how encouraging would all the angst aimed at nbl and ten be to investors ?
they talk that games are to increase next year etc but at this rate, nobody really even wants to watch it. heck, i reckon last season even fans in bris and newcastle would have tuned in to games on tv but now ? fat chance.
im thinking nbl is looking very unattractive for people to sink coin into more than ever with the nbl, ten, fans, everybody, really -- unhappy with the state of things and nobody really saying a word except the customers complaining. timing could not have been worse with this as it doesnt look good at all to the outside eye.

Without a decent TV deal, the league will continue to struggle along as it is. Teams can't generate significant revenue and their costs will keep going up. It will be hard to sustain 'successful' teams in all markets.

Then, if we look at the things summer has to offer in terms of other sports and leisure activities...the NBL (as a showcase of the best basketball has to offer in Australia) is in trouble.

Ratings arent to far below last year. Agree that it doesnt help get investors.

NBL can do little about OneHD change of direction.

Clubs want 3 games each week (even on replay) because that is what they have sold to sponsors.

Not a great situation, but the League is surely in a better place now than where it was a few years ago.

phil that may be true for us, the converted, but from a business pov i think it would be putting a heap of additional pressure on new teams to try and micro manage the nbl probs to get buyers interested ? id be interested to know what the nbl stance is now on bris / newc or if they have even noticed how much harder its made things for them. sure, they have a business need to have both teams and another melb team in but with bigger probs above them it doesnt sound too feasible to me now imho.
