Fever re-signs Erin Phillips to multi-year contract

FEVER RE-SIGNS ERIN PHILLIPS TO MULTI-YEAR CONTRACT

INDIANAPOLIS - Combo guard Erin Phillips has signed a multi-year contract to return to the Indiana Fever. The Fever re-signed Phillips, a restricted free agent who started 22 games at point guard for the club in 2011, by matching an offer sheet by the Phoenix Mercury.
"Our intention was always to re-sign her," said Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Kelly Krauskopf. “We are excited to have her back in Indiana.”
“We were so impressed with how well Erin fit into our system last year,” said Fever coach Lin Dunn. “We view her as a really key component to pursuing a WNBA championship. The thing we love about her is her ability to play more than one position. Her versatility is a huge plus.”
The Fever acquired Phillips as part of a three-team offseason trade prior to the 2011 season. The athletic 5-8 guard took over a starting role at the point when returning starter Briann January sustained a season-ending injury just 10 games into the schedule.
Expected to represent her native Australia in the upcoming 2012 Olympics in London, Phillips averaged 8.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists through 31 games with Indiana last summer. Her 15-foot jumper as time expired sent the Fever to a thrilling playoff victory against the New York Liberty, helping Indiana reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the third time in five years.

I happened to be standing behind her in a queue at K-Mart at West Lakes once and she'd be 5'8" for sure.

It seems that her salary was either at or very close to the league maximum of $103k (in $US, unfortunately :p )
Pretty impressive that a team was willing to offer than much for her, and that the Fever were willing to match.
