Tasmania improving at Nationals

With recent results like 4th at the under 16 nationals in 2011 and 6th at the recent U/20 nationals are Tasmania a force to look out for in the next couple of years? Will they end up getting there first nationals medal ever this year?

There is lots of talent coming up through the programs they are running in Tassie but I still think it will be a while till they do really well. Especially once teams start looking at them as a competitive team not an easy beat like NT. the main problem in Tassie is the small numbers of players that they get to choose from. Sometimes they even struggle to make a full team with the numbers they get at try outs!

Would think the 2nd and 4th by ACT u16 and u20 men respectively would be as notable. Certainly remain ordinary on the girls' side but seem to be making progress with the boys.

Whatever you want to point to, though, it's good to see the improved competitiveness through the middle of the pack - certainly increases the chances of a solid group challenging the Vics at the top. Hopefully NT can find a way to make it work and we can do away with the notion of 'easy-beats' at Nationals altogether.

Well done Tassie. For the "Basketball Population" you have, this would have to be very encouraging for youngsters coming through the system.

Was a great effort considering that there 7 footer broke down and they lost there main guard QLD!

A lack of week to week competition hurts their edge. Particularly under pressure at Nationals.

There is some rising talent. 2013 is a medal year!!
