Deleon wins NBL POTW

Deleon was outstanding for the Blaze in Round 22, averaging a league-high 28.0 points per game as well as 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals.

The American point guard opened his round with 23 points, including 10 in the final period, to help his side score a crushing 94-77 road win against fellow playoff contenders the Cairns Taipans on Saturday night. Deleon made 5-of-8 three-pointers and also had three assists, two rebounds and one steal as he shot 69% from the field.

After travelling back to the Gold Coast, Deleon then lit up 'The Furnace' with 33 points as the Blaze won their second for the weekend with a 90-83 victory over the Sydney Kings. Deleon had 27 points in the second half alone as he shot 50% from the field for the game. He also had six rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.

Deleon’s 33 points equalled the NBL’s season-high individual score, matching the 33 put up by New Zealand’s Thomas Abercrombie on December 2 last year.
The sole runner up was Jackson for 23/4/6 and three steals in an OT road win over Perth.

The mentions list includes some decent outings too:
Others considered for Player of the Week included Kevin Lisch (Perth), Ben Madgen (Sydney), Ayinde Ubaka (Wollongong), Jamar Wilson (Cairns), Anatoly Bose (Sydney), Anthony Petrie (Gold Coast), Gary Wilkinson (New Zealand), Daniel Johnson (Adelaide), Peter Crawford (Townsville), Larry Davidson (Wollongong), Luke Schenscher (Townsville) and Lucas Walker (Melbourne).

POTW may as well be called who scored the most this week.

They had a game on the road, went 2-0 including a crucial game against one other team fighting for the top four, pulled within a game of Perth and he was clearly the leading contributor. I think it's a fair choice, and that Jackson is a quality runner up.

What's with calling the Blaze's home court "The Furnace"? Next thing they'll be calling them the Gold Coast Suns. Townsville supporters will riot!

Im not buying it, only reason they pulled within a game of Perth, is because Jackson ripped through the Wildcats in dramatic fashion.

Mystro, while its mostly been that way (PotW being the rounds top scorer) it hasn't always happened. Chris Warren top scored in Rd.18 with 31 against the Tigers and didn't win (that week it went to Cedric Jackson of the Breakers who scored 15 with 10 assists and 5 rebounds).

Can't argue with this weeks. DeLeon led the Blaze to 2 wins and pretty much lived up to his nickname of '2Hard2Guard'. But it would be nice if they got where he is from right. Adris DeLeon is not American, he's from the Dominican Republic.

As for the venue names PeterJohn...they've called the Gold Coast Convention Centre "The Furnace" since the Blaze started. I doubt Crocs fans will care TBH as theTownsville Ent Cent is known as "The Swamp".

Having 2 scorching games he definitely deserved it this round!

Imagine being called '2 hard to guard' & be shit. His nickname puts pressure on him - he should change it!!

The Cairns win counts for sure but Sydney don't exactly have a lockdown guard defender who can shut anyone down where Jackson had to get his against a guy called Martin in a very hostile environment with a heap of pressure. Very good numbers and congrats to him
