How about you use your Gadget Arms to help?

Are the Boti/South Women's rumors true (recruiting). If true, what does this mean for the Southern girls?

Sturt Men and Women are facing changes - will they maintain ladder positions or slide by the wayside?

Centrals Women one-trick (season) ponies or will they continue to improve and offer greater competition?

Some silences are deafening ATM.

Have Woodville recruited well enough to do a Centrals, or have they just decreased their weekly losing margins?

Opinions please.

CABL News: Pre-Season Tournament:
Basketball SA is pleased to announce the details of 2012 Central ABL Pre-season Tournament which will be held at the Pasadena Sports Centre on March 17 and 18.

This year's event involves 8 men’s teams and 5 women’s teams, and with the tournament being held just two weeks prior to season tip-off, it should give a good early indication of how these teams will fare this year.

The highlight of the men’s draw is a matchup between 2011 grand finalist Norwood and preliminary finalist West Adelaide at 4:30pm on Saturday afternoon. Norwood has lost Nick Hambour, Robin Eley and David Cooper from last year’s team, while West Adelaide has added Josh Knight from Woodville, as well as new import Junior Salters.

West Adelaide’s women will also be on show on Saturday afternoon and will suit Narelle van Leuven (formerly Lindsay) who will play her first Central ABL season since 2006. The Bearcats take on a new-look Woodville side at 3:15pm, the Warriors adding Shay Bayly from Central Districts and welcoming back Katherine Perkas from injury.

The men’s tournament is split into two pools of four teams. Each team plays 3 minor round games plus a grand final or consolation game on Sunday afternoon.

In the women’s tournament, each team plays 4 games across 5 minor rounds with no finals.

Games consist of four 8 minute quarters played under FIBA timing conditions.

Entry is free and all spectators are welcome.

A full schedule is available at http://www.centralabl.com.au.

i believe Norwood have 5 WNBL players on their list this season. Bit rediculous that thats allowed. Restriceted and non restricted players who play national league should be spread through the comp. No wonder the league is where it is. BSA need to look at this closely I think.

so with 4or 5 Wnbl players on his list at Norwood, do you think Simon also needed Lightning starter Amy Lewis also? I get that he doesnt make the rules but this comp is going no where where there is 5 Elite player in one team and 0 in others..

A very strong team is a tall poppy. Tall poppies and failure go together like a Stobie Poll and Wolf Blass's mercedes benz. People never laugh when a rusty Kingswood does the same.

Well Southern mens list is wrong as Davies has requested a clearance to play Under 23 (only) elsewhere and they won't clear him as he signed a contract.

Shades of Brandon Brine last year although I doubt Davies is a required player!

Norwood has recruited a team to win it all for the past 4 years. I can't think of any team in the past 5 years that recruited as many players of WNBL caliber.

south womens team has been all over the place for a good 3 years atleast now, along with the whole of the program. Its funny, vicky took over last season and brought some success to the group. I commend her for even taking the group on at all. As said before, the young group that is left is very lucky to have her.

One thing that sticks out from a South supporter is the fact that these girls thought they were better than what they actually are.
These days it's clear that the youth of today expect to be given everything handed to them on a platter without actually working for it.
So in respect to Vicki, I actually think the best thing for that team has happened. If players think they are better than what they actually are and want to bitch and moan about court time and not starting then good riddance. You are better off getting players who play for the team and for the guernsey. One thing that I admire about both South and Forestville (and i'm definitely not knoking clubs like North or Norwood) but the players play for the team. The thing I see is that when a team is average and you have one or two good players it's easier to be treated like a star and what comes along with that is an ego. When you have numerous good players it's harder to have the same ego because in the back of your head you know there are other good players on your team.
Time and time again we see players who "rate" themselves who then change clubs and get found out. Other coaches won't put up with their shit and it's only a matter of time before they are told to hit the road again or they once again blame the coach and leave for another club.
Not to often will these players accept change, or will work harder to make their teams better. It's all about how many minutes i'm playing, how many shots i'm taking, how many points did I score, not how many wins did my team get.
Sometimes the culture of a club needs to be stripped down to nothing, where young kids will play for their coach, play for their team mates, play for their team and play for their club.
And to be honest I know although Vicki may not get the wins this year that coaches want, she will enjoy this year so much more than last year and in the end the biggest beneficiary from that will be the team and the club.
