Jerai Grant named Player of the Week

Grant scored 21 points and added 11 rebounds as the Kings dashed the Taipans hopes of a playoff berth by registering an 80-74 win at the Cairns Convention Centre on Saturday night.

The athletic American big exploded for 17 first-half points to help the Kings silence the crowd of 5,230 and upset the Taipans playoff plans on their own court.

Grant went a sizzling 9-of-12 (75%) from the field for the match and also had one of his trademark blocked shots.
Runners-up were Wilson (27/9/4 in a loss), Khazzouh (17/10/5), Abercrombie (24 and five in a win) and Lisch (19/4/4 in a home win).

The other mentions:
Others considered for Player of the Week included Cedric Jackson (New Zealand), Diamon Simpson (Adelaide), Damian Martin (Perth), Gary Wilkinson (New Zealand), Will Hudson (Gold Coast), Todd Blanchfield (Townsville), Anatoly Bose (Sydney), Peter Crawford (Townsville), Oscar Forman (Wollongong), Adam Gibson (Gold Coast) and Bennie Lewis (Melbourne)

Didnt Simpson have better numbers thought he finished on 21/12. Yeh it was a loosing team (shouldnt be a consideration) but he should be well above the other Runners up!!!..cept Wilson

Taipans were playing for a play off spot and Blaze were playing the Sixers. Taipans>Sixers

Yup, even though the Sixers played tough, the quality of the opposition should also come into play (as well as if they helped their team to the win, if it's a close tie-break situation) - but saying that, Loughton and Crosswhite not playing 100% could be used as a factor as well... Both of those players at 100% and things could have been different...

A win counts for a lot in this process, as does a win on the road.
