Yo Anonymous that's what people said about Ben Magden than he went to Sydney and he's gotten better and better. Daly should get an opportunity.

for years I have heard how change is required from thr owners but nothing happens.
same with the coach, we need change. so we get a crap coach when we get decent imports. i prefer a product that plays well, so the coach doesnt doesnt fit that bill.

im actually glad we finished bottom, cos it just underlines the fact that heads need rolling and not aimed towards personnel who play, rather personnel who coach.

What an MVP dinner this will be next week!

Another great thread about do this and get that

You are assuming Simpson wants to stay

You are assuming Martin wants to come

If we actually sack people as you want every time we are not successful then we will never get there.

Look at Richmond FC 20 years of sack when not successful and 20 years of not successful

Yeah Daly's not up to it, he's not alone on this roster though.

Obviously Marty has to go and he can take Warren, Herbert & Creek with him too. Serious consideration needs to be given to axing Ng, just not sure the team can afford to carry him anymore. Helliwell consider if a 7 footer that can walk & chew gum at the same time doesn't turn up. No need for Bartlett with Crossy under contract. No way will Simpson want to come back.

For mine lock in: DJ (unless Schensch wants to come back), Balls, Crossy and unfortunately Weigh will pick up his option for next season.

Just offer Gary Ervin the keys to the city and be done with it, this club is crying out for a leader at the PG position and especially someone who can get to the line. If not Ubaka could be a cheaper option next season.

Don't think this can be called a proud club more like a used to be club.

Think we should be focusing on who wants to stay! A new club in Melbourne forming and a few retirements around the league mean that there is more options for players. Why would our current roster want to stay and play in Adelaide? The club clearly not a 'preferred employer' at the moment.

Everyone is banking on DJ/Creek/Simposon staying in Adelaide...whispers tells me one or more might be testing there market value else where! (which as free agents they should do)

First thing needs to happen is that SOS are going to keep Sixers going or find another owner and need to do fast to at least have a chance of reasonable team.
Second is of course not negotiable sack Marty and his mate and find experienced one and pair with local Name and do quickly.
If cant do that and quickly go back to 1
Retain DJ and Simpson and Creek and Ballinger but with those 2 dont go competing payment wise.
But we as supporters are at lowest ebb and need something to put hat on things are going to improve .

The Sixers Season review would be well underway. The Sixers have the crown of the worst team over the last 3 seasons, but before wrists start getting slashed, that may be a good thing.

It is only when the cards are down and the backs are against the wall that the true fighting character can be seen. Now is the time to look at the difference between successful and not successful teams. It is obvious there is something smelly in the state of Denmark, but how we react is the thing to consider. Consider Centrals footy Club. For years the also rans of the SANFL seeking their first premiership like a 14 year boy seeking his first encounter. It was not until they looked at who was successful and what they did differently that things changed. The Sixers now have the opportunity to do the same. I would start by looking at Perth and working out what they are doing right and duplicate it. New Zealand are a good example as well. It was not that long ago, that a game against NZB was a close game, now a game in Auckland is a guaranteed loss, only the margin is the variable.

I think there are some very serious questions to be asked and answered sought. To get the ball rolling.

1. Players. Why do former players seem to play so well once they have left the Sixers?
2. Defense. Why are teams allowed to get a 0-10 run on the Sixers without any resistance?

"Look at Richmond FC 20 years of sack when not successful and 20 years of not successful"

Football can not be compared with Basketball.

1. There is no draft system to help improve bottom teams
2. There is so many more players in Football. If Gold Coast Suns got Pavlich and Franklin they would be more competitive but unlikely to make the finals. If the Sixers got Cedric Jackson and Khazzouh we would go from bottom to playoffs.
3. There is no other AFL competitions that teams can lose their players to. In the NBL they lose players to Europe.

The notion of "rebuilding" a team in the NBL can't really be used as players will always continue to come and go (different leagues or different teams). We could lose Creek and Johnson next season and there goes our magical rebuilding that we put up with two bottom of the ladder performances for. The focus should always be on who can we get that will help us win in the next season, not 4 seasons away.

Long post.........

In response to Jack, a lot of the players we have let go have been good individual talents. Lets look at some of them:

When Brad Hill came from the AIS he had big wraps and in the first few games he showed potential under Smyth. Once he went to the Dragons he got injured and has never really found his way back from that I feel, and then just seemed to get lost in the system under Ninnis/Clarke. But now in Cairns, he is going great guns because he is being allowed to play his natural game more freely.

Jacob Holmes is a little more confusing, never really showed his true potential in Adelaide, apart from being a glass eater. His flat shot was always an issue. But as was shown this year, when he gets set and finds his spots, he will nail his shots and more often than not in Adelaide, particularly on offence, he was never in the right spots on the floor, and was never considered as a shooting option.

Oscar Forman is one we shouldn't cry over. Always good for a 3-ball, but didn't really do much apart from that. Only now can you say is he producing the numbers that he should for his size and strength, but even this is still off the 3-ball more often than not.

Aaron Bruce - now I know he had his detractors put I always found him to be a good PG. Someone that can setup an offense and has some slick passing moves. This year in Sydney, before the injury, he was putting up some good numbers too. This to me, is the biggest loss to our current squad.

Stephen Weigh - a great talent in Perth, I was wrapt to hear we had picked him up instead of Holmes, but he seems to have suffered the same fate as the players above and just doesn't 'work' in the systems Adelaide are running. Rarely gets to the bucket and doesn't get an easy look unless its from 3. His defence was particularly poor this season. Cost us the game against the Blaze. He will go to another team eventually and prove what a talent he is.

About our defence, when we are running plan A, everything is great and we are competitive, but when the opposition works out what plan A is and switches, we are too slow to react or to recognise what is going on and this lets teams or individuals get on a run against us. It's almost like we have no plan B sometimes.

The same thing goes for our offence. How often have we seen the team start well, DJ or Simpson score 8-12 points in the first quarter but then the opposition shuffle their defence around to stop us posting them up and they are then starved of opportunities. This then means that Warren has to try and run another offence, but half the time he just gets bored with it and jacks up a 3. We need someone who can actually organise an offence as our teams from the past few years desperatley needed it. Later in the season, Bartlett looked better in this role and he will be cheaper for us to keep with cap and points. Crosswell coming back in next season will compliment him, he just needs to lose some of those ridiculous turnovers he produces on occasion.

Mitch Creek - enormous talent, will probably dunk himself through the hoop one day but unfortunately unless he is wide open under the bucket, he is useless. Gets a truckload of court time and I admire the fact they are trying to get minutes into him but turns down to many open looks, his confidence probably shots after a couple of airballs earlier in the season and doesn't seem to be interested in doing the hard work in getting to the basket half the time. We can't carry him anymore.

Darren Ng - Apart from the 3-ball what does he provide? Even this started waning towards seasons end. Seems to be very much a confidence player and Marty plays him accordingly. Would keep as a 9-10 man but wouldn't worry if he went elsewhere either.

Wade Helliwell - Proves white men can't jump. Or rebound, or look like an offensive threat. Playing Tom Daly at C would be a better option.
