WNBL awards inc Batkovic MVP, Buckle COTY

Peter Buckle has been recognised for his amazing performance in turning around the fortunes of the Adelaide Lightning, receiving the Women's National Basketball League Coach of the Year award at the Basketball Australia iiNet MVP at Crown Palladium in Melbourne.

When Buckle walked through the doors of the Adelaide Arena he was greeted by a proud club languishing at the wrong end of the table.
Winning just three games in the 2010/11 season, Adelaide needed a fresh approach and Buckle was the man charged to deliver change and
restore the club to its former glory.
And MVP goes to Batkovic:
The 192cm centre was the dominant player of the competition, leading the league in scoring, steals and rebounds to help her
Adelaide team to a WNBL preliminary final berth.
Great accolades for the Lightning. Might not have had the same success in the post-season, but the Lightning showed what happens when you make the right off-season acquisitions.

Poto got Defensive Player of the Year and Mijovic won Rookie of the Year.
