Draft Schedule has "Bushrangers" with no "Bullets"

Anyone seen this yet?

http://www.couriermail.com.au/questnews/east/brisbane-to-miss-another-year-of-nbl-action/story-fn8odwh7-1226310206711

Apparently a draft of the 2012/13 NBL schedule has 10 teams. A second Melbourne team listed but no Brisbane team.

Got to admit, I'm more interested in the 2nd Melbourne Team angle ...Bushrangers!? Only a "working title" sure but I was secretly hoping for something lending itself to an awesome mascot like the Knox Ox or Fox...or maybe Kn-oxymorons...mmm maybe not.

Since we're not shy of dealing in rumor (what else do we have to go on?).
I'd love to hear some conspiracy theories about the who and why of these decisions.

I'm surprised that they would consider using Bushrangers, given its prominence in the Melbourne sporting landscape as the nickname for the Victorian state cricket team over the past decade.

It's not a bad name but I agree, "Bushrangers" already means cricket in Victoria.
I don't know if they want to pick that fight as their first public statement.

I'm hoping Bushrangers will just be used until they make an official announcement and reveal all the details...real name, colours, player/coach signings, sponsors, whatever.

To be honest, at this stage I don't care if they're called the "Fuzzy Bunny Wabbits" just have a damn press conference already, then shut up and take my money for a membership.

Wow, pick the only other Victorian team playing in a major national league at the same time and name them the same name..... Genius.

Seriously, what breed of monkeys are running this game, I used to think chimps, now I reckon they're not even a breed of monkeys.

At least we should be thankful its not a 'conceptual' nickname, but I guess the a-league took all of them.

Ok. Keep in mind it's a working title, I wouldn't think they'd use the real name before the new franchise has introduced itself.

But you don't like it? Come up with something better.

Yowies? The Dunkin' Numbats? Mustangs? Makos?

That's just 4 really shitty and tongue-in-cheek ones off the top of my head. I'm sure if a little thought was put into it (maybe a public competition to garner some interest in the franchise), they could come up with something better than the boganish Bushrangers tag.
