Wildcats Jersey - sponsor logo taped over

It could just be the terrible quality of the stream i am trying to watch but is the wildcats jersey featuring a bit of cream coloured tape to cover up a sponsor or something or is it just the actual sponsor logo?

Yea they are, blocking the TAB logo, but why?

Must be pretty significant for them to stick strapping tape over it. Must of been pretty last minute what ever happened between TAB and the wildcats too

well considering this is a thread about why they had tape on their jerseys not about the game itself so i will have none of that jibba jabba on here

Player betting must have been pissed about that. Would they have been compensated by NZ by any chance? I originally thought it might have been because of the NBLs sponsorship with Centerbet, but I didn't notice any Centerbet signage anywhere either - now I know why. Still, not sure why betting being illegal in NZ has anything to do with the Wildcats as it's their sponsor, not NZ's.

They were playing in New Zealand and the game was televised in NZ so NZ's laws must be adhered to.
The NBL would have been aware of this law for some time, it's not like we made it up last week.

Thats fair enough. Maybe Player (or TAB) were already aware of it and it wasnt an issue.

It's a little odd because when we played over there in Round 18 there were no issues with showing the logo:

Could have been noticed then and a warning issued?

How many people would just see "Player" and wonder if the coach polos had "Coach" logos on their backs? Hah. Prior to the announcement as them joining the Cats as a sponsor, I'd never heard of them before.

The elastoplast on the jerseys last night suggests to me that it was a last-minute cover-up job by the Cats. I would hope that if sufficiently warned they could have come up with something far less ugly.

I like your theory though. If only they had got hold of a "coach" logo for Bevo they might have gotten away with it.
