R14 Action, shake and stir

Woodville-North (Fri) & North-Woodville (Sat) The Ultimate Double Header

Women: North look set to completely sink Woodville's finals hopes like an oil tanker hitting a Hobie Cat. Too strong, and unless something funny happens in 24 hrs, the Wockets should take it on the flip side as well. Barrie has been on the bench all season, so using the Carla Clause, I expect he'll be suiting up for finals.

Men: Last roll of the dice for Al’s boys to stay in the 5. They can probably get 3 of their last 4 games, but one of these games would be a handy. Could be an awkward second date on Sat night with possible coitus happening.

Norwood-Mavs

Women: Winning is the drug of choice for the Lightning Flames and despite their best efforts, the Mavettes better get ready for pain. Then again, it’s never over until the final siren, or until bye law 666 is enacted and the Mavs let the Opals have a training run.

Men: Norwood refuse to lie down and die. They are like Bruce Willis on a night out with McGuyver & Bear Grylls. They should be able to catch and release the Mavs using lightweight gear, but the Mavs might have other ideas on a night that could be their best chance to break a drought.

Tigers-Sabres

Women: The Tigeresses look set to unleash an arsenal of anguish for the Sabres tonight after a shock loss. They need this one to hold 5th and should.

Men: With the Tigers ice skating through the season, along comes the Sabres to pour slippery oil on the ice rink. Hide the matches just in case they light it.

Lions-Bearcats

Women: The Lionesses should tear the Bearcats apart in this game. The big question though, is can you still get a good latte in Gawler after 5?

Men: The Lions have demonstrated they can match it with the big boys, but just because you wear glasses and have pens in you top pocket doesn't make you a professor. Once again, expect them to push the Bearcats and then "red shirt" it in the final quarter.

Eagles-Panthers

Women: Forestville and wins go together like Rundle Mall and Preachers. Panthers would be well advised to bring along apples for distraction. Sounds like the pushed the Lightning Flames last round so the Eagles would be as big an upset as Carla actually suiting up and playing. Carla seems to be the Higgs boson particle of the team - very hard to find.

Men: The horse of dreams has bolted for the Panthers and the anguish of season  2012 has set in.  Don't worry, the Feagles promise to play easy tonight, although their fingers were crossed when they said it.

God it's sad when the publicity of the game comes from a journo and a shit stirrer and not from official channels

Pose the question: if BSA stopped doing absolutely everything across juniors and seniors would anyone notice?

Do they post results promptly? I don't think so.

Do they update abl stats reularly, ensure all games go on livestats (even norwood)? Don't think so.

Do they promote their flagship competition? Not bloody likely.

Have they improved the standard and numbers in juniors? No

Do they ensure rule breaking reports are followed up? Who Knows?

Are they attempting to even out the competition at all levels? Don't think they know it's skewed.

Do they schedule games at starplex, southern and mount barker at ten oclock at night for Juniors and think this helps in keeping people playing? yep.

Do all district clubs have teams across all div 1 grades? Nope.

Are BSA addressing this? Nope.

Does basketball own a basketball facility equal to the other states? Nope.

Are we going to get one? Seeing BASA went broke and lost the last one, what do you think?

Is there a widespread perception that BSA works for only a small elite number of clubs for whom the rules are rewritten or ignored? Guess!

Is BSA the best we can do in SA? They think so.

Are the jobs for life in BSA? Naw it just feels like it.

No matter how hard I try I cannot shake the impression that BASA though it died has risen from the dead more BASAfied than ever before.

'God it's sad when the publicity of the game comes from a journo and a shit stirrer and not from official channels'

The local game gets publicity from outside the petty world of district basketball and you guys find a reason to bitch about it.

What a stinking nest of vipers the world of Adelaide basketball is. Any wonder no one outside of local club basketball gives a flying f*ck about ABA anymore.

hard for anyone outside a local club to care about ABA when there's no news about it.

Woodville men shot 13/26 free throws for the game & north shot 17/31. Absolute disgrace!!

Word is the Woodville women held a séance this afternoon so the coaches would get lost on the way to the stadium to give the players a chance.

South Women - 3 points in the first quarter.

Makes the duelling banjos festival at Footy Park half-bearable.

why no north women livestats both nights but men had both?

Because it was deemed to be too embarrassing for Woodville women to have scores broadcast publicly.

Westies men smashed Centrals by 30+ points. Awesome game!

Yeh Centrals looked terrible without their import though, it was to be expected. Great shooting display by Braithwaite for West. Would of had at least 5 or 6 threes in the game.

Sturt men vs tigers looked close???

Sturt kept threatening to break away but Tigers kept finding 3s to keep close. Daly was able to find enough players for his 14 assists to hold them out in a high scoring game.

Centrals also missing carlin , Matt clarke , Jordan centenera rolled his ankle early, no real point guards after that , frost did well to get a triple double.

American missing did hurt considering he leads the league in scoring

Massive win by the Lady Mavs Vs the Lightning Flames! Terrific win with a David Vs Goliath feel about it. Dont think the coaching brain trust at Norwood would have expected that result. Great coaching effort by Mr Jones to secure the W!!

So who will make finals out of Southern and Eastern women?? Looks like Eastern are on fire and Southern are starting to fade. Madgen the clear difference! If she plays all 4 remaining games, they will make it.

Tess has been there most of the year the difference would be Alex Wilson home from the AIS and playing. What it does show if you have one gun you are competitive and two you will probably be a contender. Shame she wont qualify as Mavs would be very good with her playing as well as Tess.

Nope, Tess is unstoppable, and yes Alex is good yes, but not the influence of Tess. I agree, One great player makes a difference, 2 makes you a contender.

So how good is Norwoods so called depth seems to be if you can nullify Foley and Lewis they are not much better than most. Madgen and Wilson did that and presto they lose.

I agree! I was at the Norwwod, south game and without those 2 on, they were not very convincing at all. So yes, stop those 2 then you have it in the bag. Doing it consistantly is an ask though.
