Aussies down 14-17 at 1/4 time. Playing ok but struggling to put the ball in the basket. Only Derksen and Exum making an impact offensively, but geez Exum is lazy on defence.

Paul,

Are you watching on FIba TV

Yep. Down 18-26 now, struggling to contain the Argie guards and a bit careless with the ball. Exum has 11 on 4/5.

53-53 at 3/4, much better quarter there, although some lapses defensively. Exum dominating with 21 points, Djeric can really pass the ball. Need something out of Simmons in the last

Great last quarter by the guys, and Simmons led the way at the front of the press. It was so nice to see an Aussie team playing the Aussie style, disrupting defensively and moving the ball crisply and moving well off the ball.

Their execution of the shuffle was perfect at times. My only criticism was from this game their didnt seem to be a Plan B when the shuffle wasnt working. Apart from that I thought Molloy's game plan and sub patterns were excellent.

BTW final score was 78-59, super 25-6 final quarter.

Exum 21p on 9/16, 5to.
Simmons 12p on 3/8, 5r, 3s and 2b.
Djeric 5p on 2/7, 7a, 5s and 4to.
Duncan 3p on 1/7, 13r and 5a.
Jackson 9p on 3/5.

Paul,

Shuffle can look stagnant at times but Molloy's coaching tonight was very, very good. He has plan B, C and D with this stuff but he trusts the fact that these kids can execute and in the early part against the zone, they were down on % from the perimiter.

Jackson was good in the shuffle along with Exum and Simmons, Krslovic and Duncan and Djeric all play very solid roles and at any stage when Ben was not playing much early, they all stepped up. Holding Euro teams to below 60, France to 42, China to 52 and the Czech's to 58 Argentina to 59 is very good with the limited prep time.

USA Coach commented that it is the best execution of the shuffle he has seen in all his time as a coach.

Go Aussies !!!!

Like I said it was perfect at times, but the shuffle should be part of the plan, and tonight it seemed to be the only plan. Agree that Molloy coached very well though.

Very impressed with the way they hung tough when things werent going their way and then dominated once they got on top.

QF results:

Spain 64 d China 57
USA 113 d Canada 59
Aus 78 d Argentina 59
Croatia 94 d Czech 71

SFs are Spain v USA in arguably international bball's best rivalry at the moment, and Aus v Crotia in a battle of the fast-paced teams.

USA look unbeatable, but anything's possible.

Great win by the Aussies! Some real talent on this team and we can certainly progress to the final with a good showing against the Croats.

Agree LC,

there is a lot of pressure from home with this group of kids to medal and challenge for a Gold. Nothing wrong with pressure but we get limited opportunities to play tough competition especially now that the Tute is out of SEABl. Hats off to BA for giving these kids that trip to China to play the Chinese, Litho's ( U/20s ) and the Danish ( U/20's ) last month.

Great help for the staff and team.

Let's get behind Molly and O'Laughlin and the team - Let's get a crack at the gold, some great talent and good times ahead for Aussie Ball.
