How did Braswell get citizenship so quickly?

It seems NZ hand out citizenships as easily as Pizza Hut hand out discount vouchers.

He didnt sign with Breakers that long ago really yet hes already naturalised. If an import cmes to Australia, it takes him a long time to get citizenship, eg lisch still waiting despite debuting in NBL well before Braswell.

Is nz desperate for immigrants or what? Now he has seemingly signed with an aussie nbl team ditching his newly adopted country.

PS: I support him being in the nbl, just seems a bit of a joke.

Braswell came into the Breakers in the 09-10 season and then played the whole 10-11 season in which they won a championship. He was not resigned last season due to an injury he sustained in the NZBL. Braswell has resided in NZ full time since signing with the Breakers and has played the last couple of seasons with the Southland Sharks.

I don't think he has yet and think that was why he was left out of the Tall Blacks side.

Lisch will either be close or already an Australian citizen by the start of the season if we wishes to become one..
Helped by his marriage to an Australian today.

Lisch debuted three months before Braswell. He;s lived in NZ for 30 months. If you want countries that hand out c'ship like discount vouchers (not shopping vouchers) look at europe. EJ Rowland the Bulgarian who has never lived in Bulgaria!

Different countries have different citizenship rules and why is that be a problem?
Some teams may be smart enough to know that, others may not. If the Tigers knew it, and if he signs with them or any other NBL team as a 'local' that's smart recruiting IMO.

No-one was complaining when Rickert was trying to do this and signed on at the Blaze with the assumption that he would be a NZ citizen in time (which of course didn't happen) - good to see he stuck around in his possibly new homeland after that fell through ;)
