Australia v China - Stankovic Cup

terrible commentating once again.

Stacker obviously gave the team the green light to shoot from the 3..shooting was terrible. Cadee is a good player But the difference between Cadee and Delly is quite glaring.

Greenwood was more aggressive which was good but missed a ton of threes.

Why was Brock Motum omitted? would have been good to see him instead of Tunks or Pineau.

Defence wasn't terrible, but australia had no offense..'just jack up a three when you feel like it' but have been stackers game plan, I don't think i saw one pick and roll

Australia Shot
17% 2 pts 19% 3 pts

China shot

54% 3 pts, 30% 2 pts

According to the commentator so could be completely wrong..he was still convinced that this was the Boomers team that will be going to the olympics. such a knob

The commentary is some Pommie guy who knows knowing about basketball. Shocking from FIBA if he's an official commentator for them.

Has the commentator seen a game of basketball before? Most of these quotes are from the last two minutes of the game versus Tunisia.

"nice jumping there": a player airballs a jump-hook

"a magnificent shot there by Caddy": Cadee hits a free-throw

"and he will get an extra point": before Greenwood takes his bonus free-throw after making the basket after being fouled

"and, ah, for the first time we might have a tie"

"the players come back onto the field. ah, the playing field."

"and, ah, there was a mistake": Tunisian player prepares to take his third free-throw after being fouled shooting the 3

"and of course Australia will go for the 3 pointer": Australia down 2 with 10 seconds left

"a great effort there": Greenwood prematurely launches a desperation 3 and airballs it badly with over 5 seconds left.

Hahahahaha! Im surprised others were actually watching. No offence the the Australian team (the exact one playing in a few weeks...) but the only reason I kept watching was to laugh at the commentator. I believe a player air balled a shot close to the basket and he said it was a "good effort".

They got beaten by 2 by Tunisia tonight - Greenwood missed a 3 that would have won them the game.

Even that highlights package linked above had some classics.

"a beautiful finger-role shot" Chinese player hits a 3-pointer
(I don't know why that time it was not "a 3-point effort")

Not sure if BA need to be clearer in their releases or naming of the squads, but one of the ABC radio stations this morning announced the Tunisia result as a Boomers loss.

If it's realistically a team of trialists, then fine. If it's a "our best guys are busy elsewhere" team, maybe called them Boomers propsects or Select or whatever.

I agree Isaac. There needs to be a point of difference between the Boomers and other teams sent to represent Australia.

The commentator reminded me of

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuX2DmviGvI

Our big's were awful, I know they are going young but the big guys wouldn't even be in the top 10 (outside the Olympic team), in no order:
1. Luke Schenscher,
2. Luke Nevill
3. AJ Ogilvy,
4. Julian Kazzouh,
5. Nathan Jawai,
6. Daniel Johnson,
7. Brock Motum,
8. Ian Crosswhite (seriously!),
9. Somebody I'm forgetting
10. A chair

Matt Knight
Cam Tragardh
Larry Davidson
Oscar Forman
Alex Loughton

I think the idea was to get some of these guys in early to suss them out and give them experience in the international style.

SMH, some of you guys really have no clue. This team was basically put together in about 3 days. They held a 2 day camp at AIS and played some warm up games vs NZ national team before their olympic qualifying. Brad Hill & Cam Tragardh were to travel with the group and add some experience. Cam got injured and Brad pulled out due to personal reasons. BA would of of called some of these much more exerienced guys and asked them to play? But most being seasoned NBL guys I'm sure they would rather enjoy the last 2 weeks of their off season at home with family instead of travelling to China for a tournament that holds little to no value.
