From the NBL site:

Follow the Boomers!
Friday, July 30, 2004

Australian basketball fans can follow the fortunes of the Boomers in their pre-Olympic hitout on a play-by-play basis via special live scoreboards from the FIBA Diamond Ball Tournament in Serbia and Montenegro.

The official website of basketball's international governing body, www.fiba.com, will be offering live statistics for every game of the tournament, including all Boomers games.

Photos, news, player and coach interviews, schedule information, post-game statistics and ranking tables from the tournament in Belgrade will also be available on the FIBA website in a special section dedicated to the Diamond Ball.

For fans who want to follow the action from Belgrade directly from their computer without searching the internet, FIBA is also offering the new 'FIBA Buzzer' feature around the tournament.

FIBA Buzzer is software which runs in the background and is activated according to the preferences of the user to provide anything from basic game results to larger text news. FIBA Buzzer can be downloaded now from the official FIBA website.

The Boomers are the defending champions of the Diamond Ball and have been drawn in Group B of the tournament along with the People's Republic of China and host nation Serbia and Montenegro. Group A consists of Argentina, Angola and Olympic bronze medalists Lithuania.

The Boomers open the tournament on 1 August against the People's Republic of China at 9:00pm (local time) and then face reigning back-to-back world champions Serbia and Montenegro on 2 August also at 9:00pm.

The matches will be played from July 31 August 3, 2004 in the brand new Belgrade Arena, the largest sports facility in the city with a seating capacity of 20,000 spectators.

Australia took out the inaugural Diamond Ball tournament when it was played in Hong Kong in 2000 just prior to the Sydney Olympics.

(Mod: If you try Fiba Buzzer, let us know how it goes -- sounds cool.)
