New NBL television deal

Ok, we know that there will be a game shown every Friday night at 9:30pm on ONE and a game shown every Sunday at 2:00pm. Will any other tv station cover NBL games? What happened to the FOX negotiations? Any other stations?

Is there a chance the new SBS indigenous channel could pick up a game? They play 'Shaq vs'. Even if they only play games with indigenous players playing.

NITV or something like that? Pretty sure it's only on pay-TV like the World Movies channel.

We need an additional two games telecast (at least) per week. Fox looks like the best option

Dear BA

Wouldn't be the first time that what's happening has been known here before you decided to send out a presser.

Thanks :)

Bring the fans NBL League Pass for $50-$75 for the whole season + entire playoffs.

Then fans can watch whatever game they want, whichever team they want when they want.

No way fox is the best option, NBL league pass set up is the best and only option...anythin else is a waste of time. NBL need to broadcast the games themselves...FTA networks and pay tv have shown quite clearly that they do not have care enough about the sport to show anythin near decent coverage.

I believe online is what theyre aiming for.

NBL league pass is great for the die hards but does nothing to increase the exposure/interest in the NBL. Only TV can do that and introduce new fans to the game

You ask any anyone who used to follow the NBL in its heydays in the early 90's why they don't follow the NBL anymore and you will always get the same response. Once the game was off tv, they lost interest.

The game is on TV, at 9.30 Fridays and 2.00 Sunday afternoons. Anything else will be online.

That's pathetic. The NBL will never grow with just two games a week on tv

Anon^, two games on FTA TV is surely much better than none, which is how many there were during the Fox Sports era?

Why not a mixture of both though? Two games a week on FTA and another couple a week on pay tv? If the NBL want to continue to be small fry in the sporting market then two games a week on fta is fine

Do you seriously think the NBL doesnt want every game on TV? The tricky bit is finding TV stations who want to pay for it. In case you havent noticed, Fox Sports arent interested in basketball unless theyre being paid to show it.

The new deal allows any game not being picked up by One/Ten to be broadcast on other stations/platforms.

So as far as TV goes, potentially Fox Sports could come back into the picture, or another FTA network could sign a deal to broadcast NBL games on Saturdays. It's early days yet.

Realy love to have a saturday night game! Alot ove people work on saturday. Friday & saturday games are the best! Most people are out on sunday! Espicaly in summer! BA don't u guy's think when u talk to ch 10? Just do it like how it was when it was strong! Show every team's home home and away games that way we see every team while watching ure team play at the same time!

Vart, that is the point. The potential was there to get other tv networks to cover some/all remaining games. Looks like that isn't going to happen. So the NBL have failed AGAIN

People seem to forget that most games this season (even though delayed telecasts) rated higher than the largest audience the NBL had when they were on Fox.

These days with the internet, PayTV is going down.

2 games on FTA with the rest online OR the ability for teams to sell the other games to their local broadcaster is by far the best option for the NBL. Lets be honest, not every game is going to be live on prime time FTA. It never will be.

The online option could potentially allow people to watch every one of their team's games (on TV with one cable from your computer), something that has never been possible and probably never will be on TV in the foreseeable future.

As Vart said though, it's early days, lets wait and see what the NBL come up with before we crucify them!

As it is, this will be one of the few seasons in the NBL's history when they will have a live game every week on commercial TV.

Scott Derwin, Peter Ali, John Rymarz, Rick Burton, Larry Sengstock all did very little in their tenure. You can't blame people for being skeptical and negative

was a great big thread on here in the past but the new deal was definitely a step forward. no more midnight games.

having open options on the games not broadcast by ten is gold.

Again, for the record, Derwin was never in charge of the NBL, not once, in his tenure as CEO of BA, unless you count this interim period between Sengstock and Keneally.
