Anatoly Bose signs with BC Astana

Technically, Kazahkstan is classified within the Asian zone and not Europe.

BC Astana were undefeated in the Kazahkstan D1 competition last season, and played in the VTB League.

Bose is taking advantage of his dual passport and Astana should be a great opportunity for him to show what he has ahead of chasing a contract with a European team in one of the stronger leagues.

Great chance to impress all the power clubs in the VTB, which has 8 or 9 Euroleague/Eurocup teams in it. Good point about the weather whoever said that. Ave temp range in Sydney in summer = 17 to 26. Winter in Astana = -20 to -11!! A 37 degree difference!

FIBA Asia zone has no bearing on the European competitions for clubs. Teams from Asia can play in the European club competitions.

It's not that clear cut. Astana can play in VTB because of historic links via Soviet Union. Teams can only play in other continents if they get special permission from FIBA.

All the best!
Unfortunately this is the NBL now...
Every time a young aussie comes through looking the goods, they go off to Europe.
And why wouldn't they, of course.

Euroleague or Eurocup lets you play if you are in a country that is in Europe. Kazakhstan is considered a part of Europe and a part of Asia.

It's the same reason clubs in Turkey can play in European competitions.

And of course, Israeli clubs are definitely part of Asia anyway.
