Toowoomba basketballers killed in car accident

The board, management and staff of Basketball Queensland wish to pass on their heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families, friends and team-mates of Stephanie Mylonas and Stacey Richter from the Toowoomba Mountaineers, following the tragic deaths of the pair on Sunday afternoon.

Both women were committed and treasured members of the basketball community in South East Queensland, and were on their way home from their final game of the Queensland Basketball League season when they were tragically killed in a motor-vehicle accident at Booubyjan.

VERY sad news up here!

Girls left in their car with family members after their game. The rest of the team waiting to return home on the bus after the men's game.

An on coming car crossed into the path of their car due to the driver falling asleep. Both girls were pronounced dead at the scene. The 3 other people in the car, including 2 kids, were taken to hospital with injuries. The other driver was unhurt.

The team found out the news when they were on the bus on the way home to Toowoomba from Bundaberg.

So very sad! Rest in peace girls!

So tragic, what a terrible loss. My condolences to family and friends to these two young people whose lives ended far too early. Puts everything into perspective.
