NBL on C31 Community TV

If the NBL season doesn't get a free-to-air contract for the next season, could someone (group of sponsors perhaps) get together and get the games filmed, even if its just from one spot, and played on community TV?

Are there any NBL, Sixer, C31, BASA, Foxtel issues with this?

I believe that Foxtel's agreement with the NBL would preclude this from happening. The Sixers are not even allowed to have a webcam broadcasting the games.

Didn't sometimes the ABC used to show some NBL games?

that was because the ABC had enough money back then to buy the rights

Actually, that was because the NBL was paying the ABC to televise the game.

Surely if the NBL was paying ABC to televise the game, there would be no harm in finding out, either through BASA, or sixer management or even foxtel the terms of the arrangment. Could just be an oversight. There is hope yet!

Does the FoxSports' deal have some sort of "right of 1st refusal" clause ?

Which means that if they cannot cover any game, it allows someone to do so. In this case, a community TV station.

Alternately, Fox Sports could offer the matches on either same night delay or a replay at a later date.
