Crocs flying rookie Osborn up to replace Withers?

From Boti's article about the Crocs import cull.

SEABLer from Tasmania coming up to replace Withers? Obviously fancying the improvement in Allen. Wouldn't be surprised if Holmes & co have convinced Woolpert that he, Allen and Hinder can handle the frontcourt without an import. Hawks frontcourt were keen to do the same after having more success the year before they brought in Catron.

Gary Ervin is one target to replace Forte but they are still shopping.

David Pennisi mentioned as another option besides Osborn. Blast from the past. Reminds me of that sign at the Powerhouse: "You might have a Pennisi, but we have a Stiffy." (Or something along those lines!)

Osborn will be a handy player to have at training and will benefit from that next level experience. Ot NBL material yet. Maybe after dominating in the SEABL next year, he will be an NBL player.

Pennisi has been training with the Crocsfor the past month, staying in shape & hoping to get a gid in the NBL or back in Italy.

That's a great opportunity for Jack. Hope he gets a chance to develop into a better player for the next SEABL season in Hobart. High percentage scorer and loves to poke in the odd dunk or two in every game. Also a solid rebounder and can defend his position well.

I think defensively they will be fine, but the Crocs are going to struggle to point points on the board all season long unless the import PG is both a seriously good scorer, playmaker and MVP candidate from the get-go.

Only 1 player deep on the wing now too, and that player is Todd Blanchfield -- not exactly a model of consistency.

Just a weird roster all over. You are going to end up now with three immobile bigs, one Jacob Holmes, one SF, and five guards not much taller than six feet...

Last thing they need is Dillon. Need a strong scorer IMO and Ervin would give them some hope.

Dan Dillon is a back up G. No where near starting quality with all due respect to him.

I love what the crocs are doing here, admitting they f*#ked up, and no going after just 1 import and giving him more money and going another local big. which we have a plethora of.

Would love Erving to be the new PG, also would think it would be a great idea to hold on to both bigs, play Penisi and have Osborn line up with Teys as legit development players that if we are struck with injury can actually come in and contribute.

Plus sets up the future for when guys like Hinder or Crawford retire

Osborne isn't an NBL player yet, not this year.

I don't know about the crocs getting a back up big that really wont contribute, still think they need some decent production out of their fourth big. Should go for a cheap import, atleast someone that has put up big numbers at a lower level.

Does anyone know anything about Willie Shackleford for Bundeberg? averaged 23 and 16 last year 198cm and still 27years old. Seem like he might have some attitude which might explain why teams have stayed away, but always puts up big numbers and would be cheap.

To put it nicely, he's terrible. He gets ALL of his points in garbage time. He stays in a small place like Bundaberg because they think he is a god there.

Osborn no points and Pennisi the same?
Yet another poor Woolpert decision.

yep - I don't think that either will get a gig

Time to start looking again!!

A guy like bj anthony would surly be a good option ?

hell even casey frank would give them some much needed toughness inside off the bench
