True Freshman Venky Jois POTW in the Big Sky!
This kid has had 4 double-doubles in the last 5 games.
How exciting is this for Australia Basketball?

Great to see, shame Eastern Washington are doing so bad!

True, EWU not winning many but considering 6 freshman, redshirts, transfers and with 3 Aussies and 3 Germans and only one local kid, it will take time for consistency. Beat USC Upstate who beat Utah Valley by 20 points where EWU lost to Utah Valley by 3. Very young team but they haven't played any conference games yet.
Still can't take anything away from this kids stats.
SEABL experience must have helped.

Based on the games so far, Venky is hands down the best freshman from Australia this year.
Most improved, has to be Dan Trist from Lafayette Leopards.
15pts & 4rebs per game this year, compared to 5pts a game last year.
Majok Majok is also playing well, putting up - 14pts & 10 rebs per game for Ball State.
Good to see the Aussies playing well.
God to see the Aussies doing well although I reckon Dexter Kernich-Drew would be my most improved player so far. Has gone from 8 minutes a game to 26 minutes a game and 2.3ppg to 8.9ppg for Washington State in the tough Pac-12.

First reported in this thread that follows the Aussies plying their trade in division 1 college hoops:
Aussie "NCAA Div 1 College Watch" - 2012-13 Season!
This thread gets update almost daily...
Joise is arguably the best performed Aussie Freshman this season to date.
Agree with the talk surrounding Kenich-Drew and Trist as the current MIP's - both now starting for their respective teams and putting up very good numbers.

Jois' last four games have been monsters. Unfortunately EW have only gone 1-3 in those games though;
19/1 v North Colorado: 15 points, 8 rebounds, 7 blocks
17/1 v North Dakota: 12 points, 14 rebounds, 2 blocks
12/1 v Sacramento St: 10 points, 7 rebounds, 6 blocks
10/1 v Montana State: 14 points, 14 rebounds, 4 blocks

Talent is talent.
Jois just named Big Sky Freshman of the week for a amazing third time. He is so consistent.
Early days but perhaps a future Boomer?

ESPN's Freshman of the Night:

Venky Jois has been named Big Sky Freshman of the week an unbelievable four times, one runner-up and one honourable mention in a total of eight conference weeks.

Venky Jois won Big Sky Freshman of the Week again after returning from injury and missing three games with an ankle injury: that makes 5!
