Should the Lakers trade Pau?

Personally, I don't think they should. He's been with Kobe (the main guy for years now and they know each other). He is a good pick and roll/pop guy, which is what the Lakers are all about really. He is long on offense and defense. Best of all, he can pass. He stretches the floor to open the keyway for Dwight and then he can make the pass to the area he has opened up. Not many big guys in the league can pass. Josh Smith, Ryan Anderson, Andrea Bargnani certainly can't.

He is deficient on the boards and intensity, but I don't see that as much of an issue come playoffs. Kobe should get the team into the right head space. If you trade him, I reckon you go for an (not necessarily a straight up trade) Anderson Varejao (mid range J is ok, but can pass, board, defend, and hustle well. Him or Joakim Noah, who has much the same skill set.

No Pau? No one to carry Kobe to another championship.

Not till Nash gets back and plays for a month. Hey Ingles (troll) did Pau win finals MVP in 09,10?

Didn't think so.

Kobe stats 2009 finals 32p, 5.5r, 7.4as
With 40, 8, 8 in game one.

Definetely got carried in that series.

2010 Finals stats.
29p, 8r, 4as, 2stl

Do some research buddy, Kobe played his worst game in game 7 yes but still made some big plays. Even Michael Jordan got carried in the 92 finals Portland series in game 6 remember the bulls down 15 Jackson throws in the towell and benches Jordan for the 4th, pippen and the bench sparked a run that won the championship, if they lost that game it was game 7 two nights later could've been a different story.

2009: lol @ getting taken to 7 games against a Mcgrady and Yao-less Houston team whose best player was who? Chuck Hayes? Artest?
Getting bailed out by the refs with a no call on a Brent Barry game winning call against the spurs which was later admitted by the NBA to be a missed call. Followed up by going up against one of the worst finals teams ever in the Orlando Magic who decided to bring back Jameer Nelson who just came off a long injury. A healthy Garnett in the 09 playoffs changes everything.

2010: Kobe with the game winner V OKC... CLANK... Pau with the put back and win.
Kobe with the game winner vs the suns.... CLANK... and Artest with the putback which should have been an over the back foul. Suns were the better team in 2010 and we both know it. Refball at it's finest that series.

Now to the finals v Boston
http://www.nba.com/statistics/player/Efficiency.jsp?league=00&season=42009&conf=west&position=0&splitType=81&splitScope=GAME&qualified=N&yearsExp=-1&splitDD=vs%20Boston

Pau with the better PER? ZOMG?!!>>?? Pau should have been MVP of the 2010 finals and there's no disputing it.
Not to mention the 4th quarter of game 7 is the second worst officiating I've ever seen in the NBA. It was horrible.

lol @ using per game points instead of advanced metrics to prove a point about Kobe. Typical Kobetard jumping to his defense at the slightest praise to one of his hall of fame teammates

Lol Ingles it's amusing that you mention Garnett's injury problems yet completely disregard Bynum's knee issues and all the niggles Kobe plays through in the post-season. The Magic couldn't have been that bad a team to get to the finals, they dominated the Eastern conference that year.

Suns the better team in that series? LOL you are delusional. Lakers blew out the suns in games 1 and 2, phoenix got back into the series by its zone D which was never going to work over a long stretch.

2010 finals were epic but Kobe was the man of that team in the playoffs, not Pau. You can use all the metrics you want but sometimes numbers don't always tell the whole story. PER still doesn't take into account a lot of variables which makes it difficult to use as the only barometer.

A Kobe fan defending Kobe and underrating Pau.... Nothing new here... Not even gonna bother to seriously reply to a troll like you.

Pau Gasol is so underrated

Getting back on topic, yep, I'd trade him while he has some value, and the player I'd be looking at is Bargnani, a big man with a good mid range game. Howard owns the low block now.

I think Dwights part of the problem to be honest.

When Howard is on the court, the Lakers are averaging 98.5 points per 48 minutes. When he is on the bench, however, that number leaps to 108.7 per 48.

Furthermore, the Lakers are averaging 54.5 rebounds per 48 without Howard and 43.5 with him on the floor. That includes 17.5 offensive boards with Howard on the bench and 11.1 with him active.

The No. 1 reason that the Los Angeles Lakers are performing at a higher level with Dwight Howard on the bench is, in fact, his free-throw shooting.

Pau is just made the scapegoat.

Maybe Dwight should put his big boy pants on and make some free throws?

Bargnani is not at all a good choice. You do realise he is shooting 39% FG and 35% 3PT?

Doesn't anyone take into account passing ability between two bigs? What other teams can play a two-man game with their bigmen?

Of the guys rumoured to trade for Pau, Josh Smith is the only one who is a decent passer, but he isn't a good fit.

The man has done everything there is to do in the game and got to 30k points fastest. THE FASTEST... you lose this battle ingles every single time, and the more you post the more embarrasing it becomes.

Lol kobetards are the worst. I never see them mention one of the most important basic stats, FG%, when they talk about him. It's all about DEM POINTS.

And lol, the one fact you do provide in your short post is incorrect. The fastest to 30k? LOL, he was the youngest, not the fastest. Typical Kobetard jumping to his defense and providing wrong information, again

Wilt is the fastest to 30k points. Out of the 5 guys that have topped 30k points, Kobe comes in behind Wilt, MJ, Kareem and Malone.

Yeah I couldn't see the Lakers beating OKC in OKC with Gasol. Who knows it might be a different story in February with Nash back. OKC outplayed the Lakers in every category, had about 20 more fast break points, Durant and Westbrook combined for 69 points yet they escaped with a 6 point Win. Guess the old Hack Lakers with the most overrated baller Kobe are shit. Kobe still goes for 35 points shooting 4/5 treys, has 3 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. 17th season and leading the league in scoring still drawing doubles every possession. Fuck me Ingles your a joke, you are so delusional about supporting casts in basketball. Every team needs a gunner, some teams have 2. No one can do it alone, Jordan got bailed out by Steve fucking Kerr in the finals in 1998.

Do you think LeBron is overrated because Bosh and Wade hit shots in the 4th???

Ive followed the NBA since I watched the 1991 3 point comp in Charlotte on ABC when Craig Hodges Goes for 20/25 treys and took the title. I have 100 of Jordan's best games on DVD, every NBA finals series on tape or DVD since 1991 with every allstar weekend since 1990. I'm a lover of all players, Guards, Centres and Forwards, defencive specialists, shooters and Dunkers. Your just a dick with a keyboard hating on someone who in 200 years will still be remembered for what he accomplished in the NBA while you probably earn minimum wage as a barista at C Coffee.

Yeah Kobe comes across as an arrogant dick, imagine watching Jordan become the biggest sport star in the world when your growing up, to grow to 6'6 like your idol, model your core skills around him, then get traded to the Lakers on draft day, making millions of dollars at 17, rooting beyonce before Jay Z. Fuck it would be hard not to be arrogant.

This is my last post on the matter, I've said my piece, You could ask every current NBA baller if they would like to accomplish what Kobe has. Every single one of them would take it and you know it.

Also I like the anonymous post 20 mins after your little dagger about Gasol.

I bet it was you.

1. Your bet would be wrong. Just like probably your bet on Kobe to beat the Mavs in 2011 before they got swept. I don't need a back up opinion on anonymous to agree with myself. Ask Isaac about the ip or net code. You are wrong (#1)

2. Please learn the difference between your and you're. Please

3. I didn't ask for an essay to defend Kobe. My point was: No Pau, no championship for Kobe. Today's game spoke more than my words could have.

4. Personal shots at me when I'm providing facts and data? No surprise here

5. I'm not hating. I'm truth telling. Someone needs to be the justifier and that is me.

6. The fact you have to reply multiple times and finish it off with an essay is Lolworthy. Stick to the topic next time. Topic: "Should the Lakers trade Pau Gasol"

give up you are pointing out punctuation errors your life must be so empty.
You say your point was no Paul no ring for Kobe.
I thought it was pau carried Kobe?
You are either high or just really thick,
Kobe had 3 rings before pau was even in the picture.

I reply for you on that.

No shaq no championship for Kobe shaq carried him.
no pippen no rings for MJ
No magic no rings for Kareem
Oscar Robertson carried Kareem in 72 with the bucks.
Bball is a team sport no one wins it on there own.
You should try bounce the ball ever now and use your metrics system
to work out how to put the ball into the 10 foot basket.
