Who really cares about this stuff.

We don't have a competition anymore.

Look at it over last 10 and then last 5 years.

Boys comp dominated by Sturt
girls comp dominated by Forestvile

In two weeks we know all the results, in 8 weeks we know the State Champs won't be won by Eastern,Woodville, West, North, Centrals ,South and Southern and most likely Norwood.

The ABA season is about to commence, and we know that some teams have no chance at all of winning, yet we always call it a competition when it is not.

Keep your stats by all means, but it is like having Nationals, we know Vic are going to out muscle nearly everyone.

We have no comp, so stats are irrelevant

@ Annon. Ah well, I guess what is the point. We may as well just pack up and not bother.
The Victorians win every year so what... don't enter teams in the Nationals?
I guess Sturt girls should give up against Forestville and the Forestville boys give up against Sturt also?

Maybe, just maybe, other clubs should review their programs and try to improve their results.

Not saying it won't be difficult and take some time but as far as I know some of these clubs were once right at the top (West Norwood and North). What got them there and why have they fallen away

improvement for north boys

Maybe if Sturt stopped poaching other Clubs better players you would have a better Competition.

I think there 14 Girls have about 5 from other Clubs strengthening them and making it impossible for the other teams to compete.

"and the Forestville boys give up against Sturt also?"

Hell no, beat sturt 3/3 times we played them last winter and hope to give them a good run for their money again in summer finals.

and if better players went to your club wanting better coaching and to improve their game.... ?

of course you would accept.

@ Anonymous. Good! That's exactly what I would have expected most people would say. Work hard to improve as a club and make the competition stronger.
I disagree with the poaching as well but a defeatist attitude is not going to help your club

Annon,

The only people complaining about the standard of the competition are those that are losing.
I doubt the strong clubs will bother waiting for clubs like yours because they are too busy getting better and taking on the Vics.
Probably a reason Sturt go to Dandenong and not Norwood. Playing the Vics is good and playing Norwood is a waste of time.

The girls were in the gold medal round against Victoria.
Great effort by the team to only go down to Victoria by 9 points 57 - 48.
Given the numbers of players in Victoria compared to South Australia its a fantastic effort.
Well done to all involved.

Hope the knockers who said you only had to turn up to make the team show a little more respect to the girls who represented SA.

He guys. Good to see some stats minded people around here.

For the summer season in the Div 1 and 2 grades only.

We have

Boys

Sturt 11 out of 13 teams in finals or 84%
North 7 out of 11 teams in Finals or 63%
Norwood 5 out of 10 teams in finals or 50%
West 4 out of 8 teams in finals or 50%
Woodville 3 out of 10 teams in finals or 30%
Forestville 3 out of 11 teams in finals or 27%
Eastern 2 out of 7 teams in finals or 28%
Centrals 2 out of 9 teams in finals or 22%
Southern 2 out of 10 teams in finals r 20%
South 1 out of 9 teams in finals or 11%

Girls

Forestville 11 out of 14 teams in finals or 78%
Sturt 8 out of 12 teams in finals or 66%
Eastern 5 out of 7 teams in finals or 71%
North 3 out of 9 teams in finals or 33%
West 3 out of 9 teams in finals or 33%
South 2 out of 6 teams in finals or 33%
Norwood 2 out of 9 teams in finals or 22%
Southern 2 out of 10 teams in finas or 20%
Woodville 1 out of 4 teams in finals or 25%
Cenrals 1 out of 6 teams in finals or 16%

Overall

Sturt 17 out of 23 teams in finals or 73%
Forestville 14 out of 25 teams in finals or 56%
North 10 out of 10 teams in finals or 50%
Eastern 7 out of 14 teams in finals or 50%
West 7 out of 17 teams in finals or 41%
Norwood 7 out of 19 teams in finals or 36%
Southern 7 out of 20 teams in finals or 35%
Woodville 4 out o 14 teams in finals or 28%
Centrals 3 out of 15 teams in finals or 20%
South 3 out of 17 teams in finals or 17%

Sturt still running along nicely. Foresville having their girls doing well, but anyone know why their boys have dropped of so much?

North have been the big improvers. Been a while since they have been at #3 and over 50%.

Eastern doing well with a smaller number of teams.

West have made a step up while Norwood continue their drop off. And Southern after having one of their up cycles are well and truely in a down cycle.

Woodville, Centrals and South have a lot of work to do.

Good to see North back up there.

I think you overstated Southern who should be 4 out of 20 which puts them well and truly in a slide.

Norwood also appear to have slipped.

Reply #406630 | Report this post

appoogies, you are correct.

Southern 4 out of 20 or 20%

still a slide. Just a bit steaper.

Why won't Centrals win in any State Champs? Their under 14 team didn't lose a game over summer including a 30 point win over Sturt.

I think the poster was saying CEntrals won't win the whole state champs. THey've definately made some huge improvements over recent years but still a long way off competing with the likes of sturt and forestville.

THeir girls have dropped off this year.
