Is Jorden Page NBL material?

Question.. Would he make a nbl roster if he came out of college end of this season?

He has been ok yet has hardly set the college scene alight since he was given huge raps as a aussie junior coming out of the AIS.

Does he compare to solid 10th man/development players such as Daly, S Bruce and Purser?

I just think he is a interesting topic about the whole going to college/playing nbl debate.

He should never chosen a college where he was going to be stuck behind Delly his entire career (not to mention mckonnel as well at the start)

He is streets above Bruce and Daly

Have also heard that he has another year due to being red shirted the other year after missing half a season through injury ? May not be true, I have not looked into it

His a junior this year at st marys, this has easily been his best year he has definitely improved over the last few seasons. With Delly departing at the end of this season the doors are open for jords to really put up some good numbers!

Won't make NBL unless he improves again next year. Just cause you pay college doesn't mean you guaranteed an NBL gig, he got a number of areas to improve on!

Really hard to get a handle on how good he is with the limited role he plays. He's capable of some good things but it seems like most of it had to be created for him atm.
If he's back next season we'll learn a lot more then I guess (though I suspect not too much more, since the Gaels will likely fall off the ESPN radar once Delly has moved on)

he has some skill and has some pace. i think a perth defence would get to him, but he has the ability i believe to be a good nbl player. i think he is much better then the cedar boys, daly, martin and several other australian guards. just needs more experience

Really talented in terms of raw skills. Just needs to put it all together at the next level and play hard every game.

If he also puts some size on it might help him make the transistion as his Bio states 6'1 & 180lbs however he doesn't look 6'1 and might be 180lbs if he was soaking wet!

Very good point about him being behind Delly on the roster and not getting the court time he needs to shine, however there was a bloke called LIN who went away and got some specialist coaching after his college career and he came back to light up the NBA!

Don't write of PAGE, he is young and has the skills, he just needs to keep working and get the right opportunity.

IMO he can play NBL, no problems at all...

hes no where near the talent of delly...

he lacks decision making and over dribbles the ball.

he has potential but I don't know if he will be a success in aus

There is a large number of Aussie D1 college players way ahead of him at other Mid-Major programs....i think its just cause we get to see SMC on ESPN we hype them up.....i.e Stiendl (Struggling to see time this year!)

I hope Page can keep developing and make it as he seems like a great kid who works hard...but plenty of guys don't cut it as Pro's after college!

Good point TW, many players have their careers end after college for whatever reason, but talent isn't one of those reasons, it is usually something else IMO, such as injury, loss of desire or lack of effort...

If they get a scholarship from AUS, to play US College D1 or D2 especially, then there must have been something there in the first place?

What did Sam Kekovich say once, '90% of football is half mental', maybe he had a point!

I hope PAGE can rise above any obstacles and have a great year next year, I like him as a player and it appears he is a great kid...

Let's be honest fellas he has ONE more year to go. He'll have a chance to impress in his senior season with Delly hopefully in the NBA.

If he wants it bad enough he'll make it. In the NBL there have been worse college players succeed.

Also Mitchell Young is better positioned to succeed in the NBL than Ben Allen (I know what you're saying that's probably not saying much). He actually can rebound, play defense and has a mean streak. Also (I don't know how he has managed to do it) has gone from a shocking free throw shooter to a 70% guy.

@Isaac does putting the word 'Jordan' in the title increase the page views exponentially?

I only clicked on it 'cos I thought it would lead me to a Michael Jordan website.

It probably would, but I've changed it to the correct spelling.

Steindl looked decent at the start of the season. Must be something troubling Fearne - defence, on-court IQ, etc?

Steindl isn't the strongest mentally imo. I felt that with the Gaels he underachieved. Still young though hopefully he continues to believe in his shot and improve other parts of his game.

Allen is the perfect example of a kid who got a ful ride to Indiana....then was a solid starter college player for a mid-major tourney team who just can't cut it in the Pro's...really only still on a roster becuase at 6'11 he is cheap training fodder!

I tihnk a number of guys think just becuase they go the college means they are a lock for the NBL but the reality is alot different.

Let's hope Jorden works hard and comes a capitalising on the exposure SMC has given him.

Omar Samhan had something to do with Ben Allen having that success. I guess it doesn't pay to be finesse if you're a big man unless you're really good.

Jorden has the physical attributes to be an excellent combo guard in the NBL. It comes down to decision making and mental application. He will get his chance next season when Delly moves on.

Choosing Saint Mary's for mine was not a great decision. He was always going to play second fiddle behind Delly and McConnell and plays the same type role and position. IMO he should have gone elsewhere but it is too late for tat argument now in any case.

Tiger Watcher: Ben Allen is one of the Crocs' higher paid players, and that's AFTER he took a paycut after his bigger rookie deal.

Just typing that makes me throw up.

Decent shooter with good handles. Tries the flashy stuff a little too often and still forces things a bit. His defense has improved, but is still not great.

I'd think he could make it in the NBL, but I'd be very surprised if he doesn't play next year at SMC.

No guarantees that he'll be starting then either though. He's definitely competing with Holt, Neal, Giusti & Walker and he could end up fighting for minutes with Jackson and Hermanson as well.

Is better then half the back up guards/rookies we have in the league. Decent shooter, again different competition though.

Could easily take Tomlinson's mins at the Tigers and be more effective..

Sunshine Coast boy, so if he did, may look for something closer to home?
