Basketball injury scenario and second opinions

What would you do. Import gets injured, club physio says 6-8 weeks.Coach gets 2nd opinion from own physio who says 2-4. Who has right of way?

Surely up to the individual? When they are ready and feel comfortable coming back to play.

It is up to the individual just ask Derrick Rose.

Warning - depending on the level of competition you could expect to be sued if you don't come back when the fans want you to refer to Derrick Rose case.

Coaches who have 2nd and 3rd opinions and defer to the shorter prognosis should be sacked.
If you have access to a club physio who no doubt gives up a lot of his time for free then please show the respect that should come with that position.
Doctor and physio shopping isnt the long term answer to the coaches short term problem. Nor is it likely to be in the best long term interests of the player.

Its an interesting one.I know Geelong are seeking multiple opinions on Daniel Menzals knee but they have money to burn where as local clubs have limited resources.

1. Players Well Being
2. Team
3 Coach to make decision in consultation with player & Medic staff.

NOTE

Player gets sent home - Club and coach look cold & heartless

Club keeps player around and gives opportunity to rehab - Coach loses games and is out of a job or deemed soft when it comes to making the tough call

Player & Team interests comes before all.
