Best NBA star role model

If you had the chance to bring any NBA player out to Australia to raise basketball's profile and to get kids motivated and do some public speaking and stuff, who would you choose? Who do you respect the most?

For me, it would be Kevin Durant.

Probably right. He has the best off-court record of all the stars. Kobe rape allegation, Lebron comments/'the decision' and so forth.

Although, I doubt kids would really care about that. Kids would probably say Lebron IMO.

Steve Nash, Ginobili or Ray Allen

To be honest, if Bogut came over it would be just as huge IMO...

It's just that he is getting on a bit and injuries mean we have not seem the best of what he has to offer for long enough.

Otherwise, Kyrie Irving, wooohaaa...

Am I the only one to realise that the preference would be 'star power'? Nash, Ginobili and Allen are all past their prime. They really aren't drawcards. Irving would be alright, but he kinda spat in Australia's face with the decision to play representative ball for the US.

Durant is horrible with kids. After the All Star game in Dallas he basically left the court without signing a thing, the older guys on the other hand loved taking their time.

Definitely Chris Paul.

He is a great role model, and really good with the youth. Family man. Loves his son.

Chris Paul.

Alternatively, If you asked me who I think would be the best NBA star role model, it's Tim Duncan no doubt. But he wouldn't fit the criteria of raising bball profile, getting people motivated etc.

Didn't realise about KD after the All-Star game - thanks for the info.

Steph Curry and Chris Paul - yeah, I could handle that.

Nobody mentioned our Patty - doesn't he have enough star power?

Jason Kidd?

On the court- brilliant

Off the court- some trouble

If you ignore his troubles with the law.
Last charge was DUI.

Maybe Jason Collins would be front runner for this now!

Kids: don't look up to athletes or characters on TV... Look up to your patents or an uncle, a close friend; someone to inspire you every day
