Big V - SCM

Just wondered what peoples thoughts were now we are about 1/3 thru the season.

Hear are my thoughts

Bulleen - Really playing well, can't wait to see how Sturt fits into the mix. Top 4 on talent but not faves for the title just yet.

Corio Bay – Still my fave for the title...once they gel a little more they just have to much talent…but that said they still got make it all work…sometimes to much talent is just to much!

Diamond Valley – Playing a good uptempo style but just can’t see them winning it….if Ringwood’s import keeps firing they might just be the team to miss the Top 4

Eltham – Basketcase…playing 4 guys for 40min everyweek and coach gone already! Major issues and maybe the new direction they are heading is down to D1 with Sherbrooke to rebuild..that said there Youth league aren’t getting near a W anytime soon so nothing coming thru!

Hume City – Wow really disappointing….both imports might be looking for a new home next year! Got solid young local talent (ABK,Kansak,Malumba) but need better imports to support them

Melbourne – Really struggling and they fit the same bracket as Eltham & Sherbrooke….that said at least they have a solid Youth league group.

Sherbrooke – Similar story to Eltham lost coach and the place has fallen apart….might be worth heading to D1 with Eltham to rebuild for a year or two! At least there Youth league is competitive!

Waverley – Just ticking along…playing a very attacking style with a high shot count….still got a lot of talent and think will be there about come finals

Werribee – Surprised a few teams early but they will be scouted a lot harder moving forward, but still great to see them step up and play good ball

Humes problems aren't the imports, their problem is they're a 2 (or 3) man show with ZERO support from club juniors feeding into the team.
Take JB and Maybank out and they'd struggle in Div 2.
Not a healthy feeder system at Hume at all and the club refuses to address it.

Great read Tiger Watcher. I think Waverley, Bulleen and Coriobay is where the title will be won. DV can surprise on any given night but will that style of play win them finals games??

Ringwood a sleepy aswell. However the early losses could hurt them.

Sturt fitting in with Bulleen will be an interesting one. Another player who needs the ball to be effective. If they can click together WOW.

Eltham and Sheerbrooke a MESS. Like what the tigers and Werribee are doing. Young squads that given a couple of seasons will be fighting for a title.

FYI - I left out Ringwood from my review as I have only seen them play once in Round 1 so can't say much base on stats alone, but it was an improved effort last round.

That game on Sunday, DV vs Hume was one of the best this year. Hume came out firing and faded towards the end, allowing an on the buzzer 3 from Luke Valentine to clench it. Sammy Gazzo torched it, Matt Fennel was sort of held but still did damage, Maybank came up big, JB looked like he was trying to force everything he got, ABK had one of the biggest dunks I've seen in BigV

I was at that game, good game but was tied when Val hit the 3 so even had he missed it DV would have rolled them in OT.

Hume only played 6 players? Where's the development happening if they wont use the bench.

Can't see them winning too many to be honest and will need to find new imports moving forward as Brown and Maybank are at the ends of their careers.

I agree with Brown and Maybank being at the ends of their careers. Need new coaching staff and new imports next year if they intend to move forward

JB is still getting the job done. Would be in the top 2 centres in the comp. Hume desperately need a point guard who can create for others. Need a bench who they can rely on and have faith in playing.

word is Eric (the guy who cheated in their YL team) went back there after walking out in pre season tourny. Wentback to D2 but fronted to a Hume training sesh last week and promptly walked out again. WHat a head case. Now its believed that he is cleared to play champ at Eltham this week. Turning out to be the biggest whore in the league. Lets see how much damage he can cause at Eltham. What a joke !

He will get destroyed in Champ men. Saw him play against Geelong and is a one trick pony.

Sting what?

JB is easily the best centre in the league even though he has lost a lot of this athleticism since first arriving in Australia.

Like others have said Hume City isn't their imports it is the talent around them that is poor. They heavily rely on JB, Maybank and ABK.

Sounds like Sherbrooke have got rid of Mo Williams (didnt play last week).

Would be great if anyone can put up some clips of the games so far this season.

SCM is a guards league, its not that hard for someone like JB to keep doing well in the 5 spot because lets face it, he's about the only legitimate 5 man in SCM, the other bigs are 4's.

Mother's Day Match!

The Falcon’s Men are on a roll whilst Eltham is needing a good result to keep finals a possibility. Will the depth of the Falcons be the deciding factor in this game?

It wasn’t that long ago that this would have been predicted to be one of the best games of the season, but times have changed and Eltham isn’t the same force as it has been in recent years. Depth is clearly an issue for the Wildcats with Scott Cuffe, John Lister and David Buchberger doing the bulk of the work. The same cannot be said for the Falcons with an even spread ensuring they are once again up and firing. Ivan Platenik and Sedale Threatt Jnr are in top form and with the likes of Brad Kellerher and Tom Boyle in the supporting cast, it’s hard to see the Wildcats causing too many headaches
