Upcoming Tall Blacks Generations

An open topic about the potential weakest link and ranking (1 strongest - 5 weakest area) of the upcoming Tall Blacks (non-neutralize) generations.

2014 Basketball World Champ
PG: Tait/Bartlett (5) *Good enough quickness and ball handling?
SG: Penney/C.Webster (2) *Scoring at best
SF: Abercrombie/TeRangi (4) *TeRangi may still too young to share the load
PF: Vokona/Fotu/BJ Anthony (3) *lack of height but good in rebounding
C: Pledger/Adams/Loe (1) *Sufficient heights with lots of energy

2016
PG: Tait/T. Webster (5) Doubt if Tait still starting.
SG: C. Webster/Penney (4) Cory can play combo guard
SF: Abercrombie/TeRangi (3) Prime time for Tommy
PF: Fotu/BJ Anthony/Vukona (2) *Fotu good enough to start?
C: Pledger/Adams/Loe (1)

2019 World Cup
PG: T.Webster/? (4) future prospect?
SG: C. Webster/? (5) future prospect?
SF: Abercrombie/TeRangi (3) Lots of playing experience
PF: Fotu/Loe/Anthony (2) who would be the best talent?
C: Adams/Pledger/Jack Salt (1) Rebounding at best

Is there promising talent not being mentioned?

A few promising names but too many holes to constitute a competitive team. If they change rules to only 1 team in the region getting through I doubt they will for a fair while now.

Heard that nz could be playing in Asia region for 2019 world cup. That might open up more competition for them if budget is allowed.

"If they change rules to only 1 team in the region getting through I doubt they will for a fair while now."

Australia struggle to field a full strength team for Oceania qualifiers so if the Breakers manage to lure Jackson back for a long term gig with a view to naturalizing Australia may be the ones with the problem.

Jackson/T.Webster
Penney/C.Webster
Abercrombie/TeRangi
Vukona/Loe
Adams/Pledger

Even if Adams wasn't available Fotu would slip in at PF behind Vukona and Loe behind Pledger and it would still be a decent team..

Penney is getting old... I doubt he will play for NZ much longer if at all again. As for Cedric Jackson, guess that would be a worry but I am sure if we feild our A or B team we should be able to account for him. We would need some Joe Ingles/Delly/Baynes type players on the floor however

which Boomers anon, the B or C team that play the Oceania Series?

Kirk Penney is still playing well at a top level and can still put points on the board. He's 33yo and has a few more years in the tank like Vukona.

Jackson > Dellavadova
Penney > Ingles
Adams > Baynes
