Still called "the arena"

No official sponsor- considering lots of small sponsors instead of one MAIN sponsor

imports have been looked into and spoken too... yes GARY EARVIN and Adris Deleon have been spoken too... Earvin is asking for more than the club want to or can afford to pay him

Teys was signed instead of Daly as Daly was re-classified a 3 which the club wanted him to remain a 1 then he would have been apart of the sixers list

playing in china in a 6 team round robin competition in August

14 home games - 6 double headers - better spread, 4 friday, 5 saturday, 5 sunday, one game in December, double headers are 2 fri, 2 sat, 2 sun

Joey has been in town since Monday last week will be here for 6 months unaccompanied family will move down after the school year finishes in Dec

more merchandise ideas/concepts on the way, including beanies

scoreboard and lighting and PA on the list of things to be upgraded at the stadium... lighting a priority and the PA... scoreboard not as high on the list but on there

lightning start 11 oct sixers 2 weeks after that first game is away against perth...

first home game is a double header against wollongong

demerger is progressing ok... atm tony cochrane is in talks with channel ten about the tv deal... once that is sorted a schedule will be released... TVL definitely part of the deal atm...

thats the crux of it...

dates may change for the season and double headers etc may change too, membership is up at the same stage last year, themes for the year are being considered, overall running of the nights entertainment are being considered too...

hope that helps...

also considering a better link from the ABL to the 36ers... think the basketball academy that smyth is in charge of will be used a stepping stone for players from the ABL to the NBL...

Thanks for the thorough rundown Grovermister!
Hopefully Smyth can develop a production line that sees a few more SA born players crack the Sixers roster in coming years!

Will the Academy have any "Scholarships" or do all attendees have to fork out?
Would 36ers look at subsidising a 'development player' through this system?
Just curious.

nothing reported about that but the question was raised as to why they signed TEYS and not a local boy... Daly was only not signed due to him being reclassified a 3 and not a 1 or 2... otherwise Daly would be suiting up in 6ers colours...

it led to the question as to if the standard of SA basketballers is not up to a standard for the 10th spot on the roster and why that is so and that led into a discussion about better pathways for australian basketballers, specifically south aussie ballers, and you could see that they have discussed a better path way for young ballers in this state and i think the SASI Basketball academy as run by Phil will have a bit of an influence by the 36ers...

i remember years ago they had the 36erszone... which i was a part of as a junior... ther was also the titans zone and wildcats zone... all no longer exist but were seen as pathways for those who wanted a crack at the NBL or at least to develop there skills to be given the opportunity to get a chance to play at that level...

SASI i would think will have a similiar role as the 'zone' had back then...

FLYNN the current Ass Coach at TVL was the guy in charge of the 36ers zone...

Is the Lightning start date a home game or an away game?
