Sydney Kings v Butler Bulldogs pre season

Sydney lose another pre season game 82-76 to another ncaa team in the Butler bulldogs featuring Aussie Jackson Aldridge who is a former Sydney sider who scored 11.

Missing pretty much every offensive weapon the team had the standouts were Harvey 20, Hill 19 and Garlepp 18 points each.

What still amazes me is that Jarred Weeks (unsigned player) plays 27 minutes off the bench and Kyle Armour starts (signed player) and only plays 16 minutes. Would love to know the reasoning behind this. Surely king fans must be worried why the club has signed such a player if the coach doesn't trust him? Especially after it looks like heal hand picked this kid from the "development camp" which was held last month. Why Luke Cooper, Kendall or Daly didnt get this spot is amazing to me?

So if Ive got this right, Sydney went with:

Garlepp/Allen
Hill/Brandt
Harvey/
White/Macham
Armour/Weeks

On paper, that would have to be the weakest team to pull on NBL uniforms in some time! Full credit to them for making a game of it. Harvey certainly scoring plenty early on. Did anyone watch it?

Kendall? You can't be serious. Cooper? no way.

I'll match your "Kendall? You can't be serious. Cooper? no way." with "Armour, what are you smoking?".

The point was well made that Armour is a contracted player, if only temporary & was chosen as starting point guard in this game yet gets only 16 minutes court time while former development player Weeks (the fish that Heal has just rejected) plays 27 minutes. Now that does smell fishy.

Would have liked to catch this game, but instead watched the New Mexico vs Kilsyth game in person.

Love the fact that the Kings have been streaming the games live online.

Minutes played in these games should mean nothing.
However, Hammer is overplaying Garlepp and Harvey just to remain respectable.

I think Armour got into foul trouble from memory... Plus wasn't playing well, to be honest, losing his guy on D and really not being able to run the show properly. With more experience in the system, Weeks did a better job of that, but being down our top playmakers, that was obviously a weak spot...

Speaking of weak spot, Allen didn't look his best and I think Hammer has his work cut out for him to get Allen up to par. Wasn't getting decent position inside, getting beaten to rebounds, etc etc...

Great to see Hill and Garlepp playing well though...

Don't forget Harvey as well.

At age 34, he is still showing the ability to get it done.

Had 27 last game and now 20 this game. Can't deny that's good numbers against college teams that pride themselves on defence.

Theyre good numbers, but it is only against college teams! Having said that, we all know that if Harvey stays fit he will score points.

Couldn't nail a three though last night which was disappointing... Kings really need someone reliable AND to work on getting shooters open if they're going to compete...
