Teams in finals

Well, its once again finals time. This year I have taken into account all grades to see how clubs have done in finals.

It is somewhat misleading, because a team that is top in div 4 increases the finals percentage for their club, while a team that finishes last in div 3 does the reverse. Not really a good scenario so take it as you will.

I will follow up with some div 1 and 2 analysis later in the week. This may make some changes to results in relationship to these.

Boys

Sturt 18 teams out of 24 in finals or 75%
Norwood 12 teams out of 24 in finals or 50%
North 13 teams out of 27 in finals or 48%
Centrals 7 teams out of 15 in finals or 46%
Forestville 13 teams out of 28 in finals or 46%
West 7 teams out of 16 in finals or 43%
Southern 8 teams out of 23 in finals or 34%
Woodville 6 teams out of 19 in finals or 31%
Eastern 2 teams out of 9 in finals or 22%
South 5 teams out of 25 in finals or 20%

Girls

Sturt 11 teams out of 15 in finals or 73%
Forestville 16 teams out of 22 in finals or 72%
Eastern 5 teams out of 8 in finals or 62%
West 8 teams out of 15 in finals or 61%
North 6 teams out of 12 in finals or 50%
Norwood 6 teams out of 16 in finals or 37%
Woodville 1 team out of 4 in finals or 25%
South 3 teams out of 14 in finals or 21%
Southern 2 teams out of 11 in finals or 18%
Centrals 1 team out of 7 in finals or 14%

Overall

Sturt 29 teams out of 39 in finals or 71%
Forestville 29 teams out of 50 in finals or 58%
West 15 teams out of 29 in finals or 51%
North 19 teams out of 39 in finals or 48%
Norwood 18 teams out of 40 in finals or 45%
Eastern 7 teams out of 17 in finals or 41%
Centrals 8 teams out of 22 in finals or 36%
Woodville 7 teams out of 23 in finals or 30%
Southern 10 teams out of 34 in finals or 29%
South 8 teams out of 39 in finals or 20%

Overall looks like Forestville's boys have dropped of badly, moving them from challenging Sturt as a club. Not sure Sturt is the best girls club but have the higher percentage of teams I finals.

West have been the big improver. Their girls have especially made a higher percentage of finals.

Eastern also doing well again in girls, but boys really struggling.

North are on the up and have moved in front of Norwood who continue to fall, in results as well as team numbers.

Centrals boys doing well, but girls really holding them back.

Woodville struggling especially with the number of girls teams, hope they can get back to double figures teams again soon.

Southern have made a big drop like Norwood, and interesting to see a lower number of people from that area woofing here.

South are sitting last again. At least they have a high number of boys teams? About the only positive they have.

Any other thoughts???

be interesting in seeing trending - i.e. first years in their second year etc

10 years ago most of those juniors now playing for western would have been a majority of warriors with about 33% of them also bearcats.

would be interested in a w/l ratio - as some divsions with only 5-6-7 teams - the 3rd and 4th teams may make finals with a negative w/l ratio

Stats room this is a little deceiving. Promotion relegation means that teams that struggle over summer get relegated but if there player stocks are boosted by winter they end up dominating.

Div 1/2 analysis would be more accurate IMO

I think I pointed that out anon.

Could also show which teams have improved over winter as well.

Probably a bit of both.

What age groups and divisions are included. I can't believe SOuthern and South Adelaide have that few teams

Good question.

This is for U10-U18 boys and girls.

All divisions.
