I am interested.
Can you give me some idea of how the $130 is distributed?i.e.. how much gets to directly help kids who need support?

Thanks for your question. Whilst the launch event is a fundraiser with auctions etc, to completely identify the amount from your ticket that will go to a "in need" player is a difficult one. There are as you would imagine significant costs in running this type of event.

Flights, accommodation, food and beverage costs, entertainment costs, printing etc. Running events to make significant profits are difficult due to the high costs associated with them. The bulk of the profit can in some cases come from the Auctions, Raffles, Sponsorships etc that take place on the night.

What I can say though is that there is complete transparency through the board of the Free Throw Foundation (who are running this event)on the costs associated with the event and the budget produced to raise significant funds on the night, which will be returned to the sport and the athletes.

Ticket sales are really strong which will go a long way to reaching our fundraising goal. Hope you can make the night.

Regards
Free Throw Foundation

$130.00 for dinner and drinks, sounds like a great deal if the drinks are alcohol and they are served all night?

best story in basketball in this State for a VERY long time.

To all the highly credentialled individuals that put their hand up and got this off the ground a big WELL DONE.

Basketball aint cheap..I don't want to see any talent lost to the sport.

If this program saves even one kid lost to the sport due to financial constraints then it's achieved its purpose..

after costs, the whole lot..

would you like to get off your arse and organise something AND cover all the costs out of your own pocket?

you must be very naive to think that fundraising doesn't incur costs..at this level its quite substantial

no-one is taking 'pay' from the proceeds if that's what your trying to hint at..

put your hand up and help instead of sniping

Any speakers or guest speakers get paid? No sniping intended at all.
Do you buy a raffle ticket from the XYZ organistion? They generally all get commission nowadays. Door knockers looking for donations generally all get commission.
I would have thought that maybe the printers might do it for free. Maybe the hotel stump up the accom and food as part of a tax deductible donation for fly in guests. Maybe the airline do it at cost if not for free. Generally a lot of auctions have significant items on commission too. Maybe a painting, cricket ball, footy jersey, Normally there is a cost price for that said item to purchase before it's even sold.

Pay your $130 or don't, but don't keep going trying to turn a positive situation into a negative via speculation/innuendo.

Put up $130 or shut up.

what are you on about 229

did one of the Board members Valk, Spear etc cut your kid from the State team and you're bent on revenge?

who really cares if Longley was paid to appear?

people responded with their feet and $$ and attended in droves

I trust the people involved implicitly who have taken on board this fantastic cause

if you've got a personal vendetta to wage against someone involved then man up and declare it on this forum

otherwise STFU and stop dragging down a fantastic initiative..troll

All

The response to the dinner was in fact sensational and the outcome more than we had hoped for. As previously stated there were substantial costs involved in running the event but the final outcome was significant. Feedback from the event was that people loved attending, loved the entertainment and hopefully will be back.

We are in the final stages of preparing the application form, as you can imagine this is quite a process given the legal and privacy issues we have to cover off on.

That document will soon be available and we will call for applicants to apply for funding so the money will soon start flowing back into the sport.

This should take place late January 2014 or early February 2014.

I hope this answers any questions but feel free to email us at [email protected] if you have any further questions.

Regards
The Free Throw Foundation
