Steve Adams might get to start for OKC in game 1

NZ's Steve Adams might find himself as the starting Centre for OKC in the first game of the 2013/14 regular season as regular starter Kendrick Perkins is still recovering from a dislocated finger in a pre season game.

Hasheem Thabeet was handed a 1 game suspension for headbutting leaving Adams as the only other specialist Centre on the Thunder roster.

Adams has been playing well in the pre season and has impressed not only the Coaching Staff but also his team mates with Durant recently endorsing his skills at an NBA level and now Reggie Jackson.

"I knew he was good, but I didn't know he was this good and this hungry. He's just determined to get better. His approach to the game, he's a sponge. He just wants to work hard."

The Thunders first game is October 31st against the Utah Jazz

Hopefully he can really take the bull by the borns defensively which will keep him in games until his offensive skills develop.

I've watched 3 of the preseason games and he looks really good. Finishing around the rim, rebounding like one of the best in the league (10+ twice in limited minutes).

Looks really good... and thats coming from an aussie, not a kiwi.

OKC looks a good fit for Adams he has joined a talented team and can be bought along at a steady pace. My guess is he won't see much if any time in d league and will become Perkins backup.

Another great effort from Adams in a loss to the Chicago Bulls 104-95.

In 30mins at Centre, Adams had 11 points (4/6 from the floor), 7 rebounds (2 offensive), 2 steals, 2 assists and 2 blocked shots and only 1 personal foul.

Durant & Lamb had 22 a piece for the Thunder & Rose had 26 for the Bulls.

Only the pre-season but his rapid improvements bode well for the regular season. I also can't see Adams in the D League.

He's been playing like he's been in the league a few years already. Been strong on the glass and around the rim, and just kept his head well when other rookies might not have in some situations. If Perkins has injury woes could he be a dark horse for ROY?

I've been loving his effort at both ends and it's great to see him on court with Durant & co.

Van Gundy was singing the praises of the New Zealanders & Australians while commentating the Bulls game, he loves the no nonsense approach & toughness.
There's a Steven Adams Facebook page that has a some vids and one has all Adam's highlights from the Bulls game, he does really well defensively (nice blocks on Boozer and Gibson)and has some nice touches with both hands offensively.

A lot of media outlets have him penciled as the steal of the draft.
