Echuca possible Big V return

Rumour has it that the Echuca Pirates are keeping a close eye on how Wodonga go in the Big V this year with the club investigating a return to the Big V.

This is great for country bball in Victoria.

If they had the $$$ to get 2 imports like Mildura to add to the locals this would be great for Big V

Was a good roadtrip too! Remember a guy on the ream called 'Wattie' who if I recall correctly was also sponsored by 'Watties'!

Wouldn't be a bad thing, providing they can get some of their local players up to the standard and chuck in some imports. Would 100% need at least one import though IMO

Surely LC everyone would be more concerned about the quality of the after game function! The old BigV forum used to have robust debates about who had the best "spread".

And there were some GREAT spreads too! I miss some of those country teams...

Warrnambool used to have a great rivarly with Shepparton and Gippsland Pacers.

Wangaratta, Sale, Horsham and Echuca. We even had teams from Wodonga and Albury! Korumburra were there for a while too back in VBL / CVIBL days...

We don't need a team back in Heyfield thanks! ;)

I reckon they would have no dramas on court. Would easily be competitive in D2m. Hope this gets happening.

Did Randy Shanklin start off at Echuca?

Easily competitive? Based on what exactly, CBL results??? I would love to see them enter Big V and make it all work, but there is a lot of work to be done first.

Keep in mind Shepp Won CBL and still were only middle of the pack d2. I may be wrong but I think echuca are yet to win a single game in CBL this season (their first year back in many)

Shep won their weak cbl conference yes
Not the State CBL championship

They got way ahead of themselves on this forum this last time year

Craig Wattie... what a gun.

I thought Shank started in Wangaratta, IIRC

I never said anything about the quality of the competition that Shepparton won. Echuca are in the same conference and are yet to win a game let alone the championship. Keep in mind that Sheppartons BigV team was not as strong as their CBL team either.

Just got curious to see whether I could, literally took about 10 minutes. Some fantastic banter on those old boards.

Expect Shepparton to be much stronger in Big V with the return of Matthew Bartlett...

If they get Ian Wright as well from Bendigo they will be tough

What about the first year Echuca played Big V -
1997 David Ulloa 45ppg Season Average! one & only season he played Big V I believe.

He was definitely one of the best pure shooters I ever saw.

Craig Wattie was the Pirates leading scorer for just about every other season after that until Echuca dropped out.
