Willie Farley returns to Toowoomba for 2014
The Clive Berghofer Toowoomba Mountaineers would like to announce that Willie Farley will be the Head Coach for the QBL Men in 2014. After a successful 2013 ...on the court for the Mountaineers, Coach Farley is looking to further develop the squad for the upcoming Queensland Basketball League season. This comes on the back of three seasons under Coach Clarence Dickerson, who brought the Mountaineers back to the QBL Playoffs. Willie is excited about the prospects ahead. "I am very excited to be coming back to Toowoomba, Willie said, the Players, Staff and Fans have been very welcoming and a great support. This is a great club and are they are building something special. It is great to be apart of that." Mountaineers Chairman David Knott has also advised that as part of bringing Willie Farley back to coach, The Mountaineers will also employ him as a Development Officer. Helping develop Junior Players in the region and working with the elite players in the Mountaineers Academy. "This is key for Toowoomba Basketball, Knott said. We need to develop this pathway from our youngest junior players right through to the QBL. This will lift the standard of Toowoomba Basketball overall" Along side Coach Farley, is coach Anthony Corcoran who is equally excited about the prospects for 2014 WQBL season and leading the Lady Mountaineers further into Championship contention. "Getting to the playoffs this year was character building for our girls. Coach Corcoran said. They know they can compete now. We are now aiming for a top four spot in 2014. This is very achievable for us." Both coaches will now start bringing there squads together for pre-season preperations
