Tigers vs Hawks, Dec 27

First game after the week off. Important game for both teams. Your pick?

BTW, noticed that the three NYE games are all in regional spots - I wonder if that's intentional?

Tigers will be too good for the hawks at home. Melb by 9.

Not wanting to hijack the original thread but in response to Isaac re. regional NYE games, it is the biggest game of the year in Cairns and is the one game that is all but a sellout, great atmosphere can't wait!

After a poor first quarter that was a super game, Chris Goulding just amazing in the last quarter - scoring 14 of his 30 - as was Lucas Walker on the boards with seven of his 14.

Hawks can play a lot better, missed plenty of good looks, so should be a good one on NYE.

Thought Gordie made a mistake in taking Clarke out late in the fourth. Hawks soon lost momentum and then a questionable drive by Tiggs seemed to seal it.

Worthington had a rough screen on Demos (elbow knocked him to the ground) which might've shaken Tyson enough to distract him from that point.

Agreed Isaac. Add to that the Hawks couldn't help Clarke to get a shot or even the ball in the last few minutes.

The Tigers had the same issue with Goulding for a fair chunk of the game - give credit to both defences. In the final quarter he was just catching and elevating - when he hit a couple in a row and the Hawks called timeout he looked at Anstey and yelled "get me the ball!"

Overall, it was a very very average game. Some of the turnovers were diabolical, the bulk of offence was players going one on one after little or no decent action. As a result the shooting percentages were well below par.

The officiating didn't help matters... The random travel call to break the flow of the game (technically there was minor travels going in almost every possession, like all games) soft contact on dribbler or cutter called at times then at other times players allowed to have afl style contact...

Hawks really need to play Tiggs more than Coenrad, they may have similar turnovers but they are different types of turnovers. Was it just me or did Coenrad pass the ball either directly out or to a Tiger on multiple occasions. Tiggs are at least aggressive turnovers.

Tiggs is a lot more versatile on the offensive end and seems to come up with more critical rebounds.

I do like what Demos delivered last night, if he can consistently provide that Hawks might challenge for the Top 4.
