Australian Boomers, past and present

Just for a bit of fun, who do you think would win?

Dellavedova V Heal
Mills V Gaze
Bogut V. Longley
Baynes V Bradtke
Ingles V Mackinnon

Exum V Grace
Newley V Maher
Andersen V Anstey
Ogilvy V Rogers
Drmic V Cattalini
Motum V Vlahov
Goulding V Smith

Lemanis Barnes

Which team would win?

As a team, the right side has loads of experience, ability and strength. Head to head on each individual match-up, the left side wouldn't win too many.

Cattalini and Vlahov would have a walk in the park. Mackinnon would just be too strong. Bogut you'd think could handle Longley OK.

Mills and Gaze are such different players, but you'd want the experience and size of Gaze at that position.

If Barnes is running the shuffle with Longley playing on the perimeter I think the current team wins! If you put in a good system that uses the strengths of the 2000 team well I think they win.

When you break it down head to head you realize just how good our 2000 team was. The 2000 squad are on average 4 yrs older and many of those guys were in their prime. Looking at todays team Delly,Motum,Drmic,Goulding,Ogilvy and Exum are all still emerging stars. By 2016 the gap will be closer imo

I think the current starting 5 is better than the 2000 one but the 2000 bench looks much stronger.

based solely on coaching our 2014 team would win. But on raw talent the 2000 team was the best team we have ever, and perhaps will ever, have... such a shame that we were coached so horrendously.. somehow we managed 4th still.. really could have medalled.

I do think however that your team for today is lacking some players who would be shoe ins...

"2000 team by 25-30 points."

Haha, the 2000 team didnt beat anyone by 25-30 points, not even Angola. In fact, they only beat Angola by 11 points (after trailing at half time), one more point than NZ did.

LOL, the 2000 Boomers team beat Angola by 42 points in the pre-Olympic FIBA Diamond Ball tournament!

The Boomers then beat Italy by 19 in the next round on the way to winning that tournament too.
