Kaban is literally a warrior. Not spectacular but tough as nails and plays much bigger than his size.

Div Two and signing an import in order to compete? Why are they in the league in the first place then, need a few more seasons in MMBL obviously.

It's funny how people always bag teams that sign imports.

The import is brought out to play but that only forms part of their role. They also do a lot of coaching and become the face of the club which helps kids aspire to get better and dream.

No Bagging of the import at all. Just think a small starting out club at that level in the Metro suburbs could do a lot more by going local and building something for the future and long term.

At the higher levels and in the rural areas its a great move and has been proven time and time again to be a success. At the lower levels like Div 2 the last 5 years or so have shown its not the best move for Metro clubs.

Don`t need to name and names but there have been many taking the money and not giving a whole lot back on or off the court.

All depends on who you get I guess. good luck to Oakleigh though, hopefully they have a good first year in the league.

In a start up team a good import would be the best thing they could do. A good import will get bums on seats at games, get people excited and also help teach the next group coming thru so maybe in a few seasons they won't rely on an import.

Not to mention get into schools and get more kids playing at the association. This guy will be a great citizen and player for Oakleigh.

Kaban has hsf 47, 28 and 35 points in his three games so far and lead Oakleigh to a draw, a tight loss against Pakenham and a 29 point smashing of Mornington.

Seems to be working out ok so far!

Sounds like a quality import and getting value for money.
