Costs of playing junior rep ball

I was listening to SEN radio and there was a big hoohah about the costs of junior soccer going up at their version of rep clubs. From what I heard, this only seemed to bring it in line with rep ball costs. I've heard that different VJBL fees range from around $300/season to up to $700/season.

What are people paying for their kids to participate around the country, and any thoughts on why the huge cost variation between clubs?

Paying about $500 this season for a big club in NSW. A little up on previous years as new uniforms had to be ordered. And that's before the State team costs come into it...

Good discussion, but compare apples with apples.

Soccer does not really have anything that replicates VJBL, with week in/week out competition. Very few sports do. That is, a second weekly game on top of your domestic game.

Domestic club participation for soccer is reputedly very expensive. I have heard figures of well over $500 for a season for juniors.

I also understand that to be part of elite programs for soccer is extremely expensive.
