Sino-Aus Challenge Game 4 tonight

The Boomers lead the series 2-1 and I think have a +8 point lead in total points, so to win the series China will need to win tonight by 9 or more points?

10:30pm on ABC2

Really looking forward to this. Pretty sure both teams will be motivated to win the series as much as they are interested in development of their players/systems.

Interested to see who stands up for Aussies.

We've got to stop reaching in and handing China so many free throws! Defence has been pretty good so far but need to secure rebounds.

Good to see the standard of umpiring has carried over. Calls all one way. Our effort so much better though.

No one will ever take this series seriously until there is an independent official from fiba appointed to the games. It is the reason why china never improve as a nation. You simply can't play this brand internationally and expect to be competitive beyond your shores. Flat out cheating on some no calls.

I can't understand why they don't have Fiba umpires.

Agreed Joshua. Boomers playing well though and should be able to win it despite some poor calls.

I'm really starting to like the look of Steindl. He really improved over course of NBL season and is showing good signs during this series. He can obviously shoot it and I love the length he has in his arms - great for getting his shot off under pressure and pressuring passing lanes. Had some nice drive and kicks in this game too.

Love that charge / block call on wortho that was truly a disgusting call.

I thought Steindl wanted to go to Europe next season? Has Townsville offered him enough to change his mind?

This is a joke. Why do we play such a rubbish series where the Chinese so blatantly cheat!

International refs would be a good idea but it doesn't really matter if we win or not. Reality is our C team is matching it with close to their A team!

Nice dunk by Motum there! Pity about his late challenge to allow the three down the other end. As Mark Jax would say: " hand down man down!" I've liked his offensive skills in this series, but he's got some work to do defensively.

Decent commentary from Maher at least.

Woah just saw foul shots for China: 48 attempts!

Decent effort from our guys, largely playing good D and keeping their cool in the face of some serious home cooking. Some of our younger guys needed to be a bit smarter about reaching in when the refs are calling it the way they were. Too many TO's in the end as well and we struggled to contain their quick guard (#5 I think) in the 2nd half.

Lemanis gave Greenwood a real good look in this one and while I like his hustle, he's not quite as savvy as Rhys Martin yet. Good experience for him though. Definitely worth persevering with.

As I mentioned earlier I like the possibilities Steindl offers as a specialist shooter. Would like to see him in camp with the A team just to see if he could fill a role as a knock down shooter if Ingles/ Newley both struggling to stretch the D.

Nevill and Motum the other two who I would get into Boomers next camp, with Nevill the most likely to make team should both Bogut and Jawai not play.

Motum and Steindl may have a small chance because of their shooting touch, but I suspect Gibson and maybe Wortho or Petrie will get a gig ahead of them due to experience.

Honourable mention to Walker as well. Love his hustle and ability to aggressively hunt down loose rebounds. Just don't think he is big enough to play the 4 internationally and not going to beat top class SFs off dribble like he did v the slow-footed Chinese.

The Chinese always cheat in basketball when it comes to refereering. MOst of their refs will never referee a FIBA game and will do the right thing by their home team or face the consequences if they don't.

Absolutely disgraceful umpiring, Chinese should take a good hard look at themselves and should feel embarrassed to win games with blatant cheating.

Their coach should of been removed from his position after his game 2 antics if they were a serious organisation but obviously they are not. Can certainly tell which country put up most of the money to have the series go ahead.

Basketball Australia should scrap the series going forward and engage another country to compete against even if it cost's us much more financially.

The Chinese behaviour from coaches, players and referee's just should not be condoned and we should not have anything to do with their irrelevant program in the future.

What China doesn't get is that the poor officiating hurts their national teams. They get false wins at home and don't learn to play under fiba rules. They goto world championships and wonder why they get beaten, despite having amazing financial support and player numbers behind they.

Andrej Lemanis has too much class for those cheats.

Great work by team Australia to play through the politics.

I thought so too Mo. Our players showed a great deal of restraint on most of the bad calls, which is especially pleasing when consider how young a lot of them are.
