Rick Brunson charged with sexual assault
After he left the 36ers Rick Brunson went on to have a lengthy NBA career with numerous teams and since retiring has also been an assistant coach with a few NBA teams but he appears to now find himself in hot water.
WHILE imports come and imports go, former 36ers import Rick Brunson currently isn't going terribly far, charged with attempted criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual abuse, aggravated battery and domestic battery in Chicago.
Brunson, 42, and a former star playmaker at Temple University where he was a candidate to rejoin the team as an assistant coach, apparently used Patrick Ewing's name to book an appointment with a female massage therapist at a suburban Chicago fitness centre.
The 36ers’ 1996 MVP, Brunson’s son Jalen is ranked by ESPN as the nation's No. 1 high school point guard.
Jalen, who listed Temple among his eight selections as his college of choice post-high school, participated in the same LeBron James' Skills Academy basketball camp where next Aussie sensation Ben Simmons also took his talents.
After leaving the 36ers, Rick Brunson played for eight NBA teams from 1997 to 2006 and has been an assistant coach for college and pro teams, including the Chicago Bulls and Charlotte Bobcats.
The masseuse said she believed Brunson used an alias because she had told him she would no longer work with him.
The woman said "she was in a daze after the incident and could not recall much of her time with Brunson after the abuse concluded."
Brunson declined an interview with police after his arrest and refused to provide a DNA sample.
He has pled not guilty and will go on trial on October 27.

I still remember the big Rick Brunson poster I was given when he was being used to promote The Playground indoor basketball courts at Royal Park.
