CABL F1nals Action

Women:
Panthers vs Eagles
The Panthers are having a season to remember and have easily accounted for the Feagles this season. On home court and with the Panther faithful hungry for finals success, it seems they will be feasting on roasted eagle tonight. They better watch out though, eagle needs to be cooked just right, or else the panthers might get a dose of indigestion. Whatever they do, don't roast them with apples, or they will repeat on you. Panthers with the sharp claws tonight will close out the season for their feathered opponents.

Sturt vs North
This is a game that could go either way. North with the early form and Sturt coming good at the end of the season. The sentimental favourite is North, but Sturt know their way around a finals court like James Bond knows his way around a casino. Big Bad Barry better look for Sturt’s tell if he is to put his chips on the table. Don’t go all in Bazza, you might need some chips for next week.

Men:
West vs Forestville
These teams have been tight all year and without the services of Gibbo, Forestville need to do it by themselves. In fact, they don’t need a weapon of mass seduction when they have a weapon of mass destruction. Enter Jake Rios, who just dropped a lazy 47 last week like it was just a chore. Westies might have the home court advantage, but that means nothing unless someone stands tall, dons a kilt and paints their face blue. It’s bye bye to the loser and I think the home crowd will be disappointed.

Norwood vs Centrals
The Lions are down the Nung River looking for Colonel Kurtz. They have reached the Cambodian border and stumbled into the lair of Colonel Cooper and his band of merry men. Will Colonel Whitmore land a strategic napalm strike, or will Cooper be the one to napalm them? Ah I love the smell of napalm (and it’s so easy to make too!) The Flames have burnt the Lions twice this year, so it could be third time lucky for the Miller Army, or else they might be hosting Forestville next week. Better book Starplex.

I agree annon. A disappointing year for the blue and gold given the resources they have.

Anything less than a title is always disappointing for the Eagles regardless of whatever resources you refer to.. A standard most can only dream of..

West were better on the night, not sure about clearly better given it was a 2 pt game inside the last minute..

Interesting stat line from Sturt women's game J Macphail 5 fouls in 5 min court time two of those on J Hill both very solid fouls coach plan, player plan, or coincidence. One would hope just a coincidence.

Tragic, you obviously weren't there, those results were not related at all...…. Was a bump and grind as expected from the Reds. Both sides had players with high minutes.. Was a hard tough fight as expected from these two clubs. Just what they should be, but hey all the team have been there from start to finish give or take a few games and they have their teams well and truly working, unlike some relying on a quick fix. Finally nice to see those teams who have stuck fast for the whole season are getting results.. A bit like the mine sites with the fly in fly outs not contributing to the community hey !!!!! Eventually the business needs that community support and some stayers to keep the home fires burning….

Forestville would be disappointed with the season, but on the bright side, a wobbly end of season could see them renamed Forestville Magpies.

Wonder how many "sponsor" awards were handed out to sturt players last night? The little green envelopes looked a bit suspect

South women looked impressive. Should be a good game this weekend. North have the psychological edge though. But if South perform like that again, there might be an upset.

Green envelopes at North-Sturt game?

There was only one envelope I saw, and it wasn't green and the sponsor told me it was for a session at Linda's Beauty Therapy (not cash).

Just like Forestville think paying outside the cap and bringing in players just so then can qualify for finals even though they can't play finals.

Ring BSA tomorrow and ask what the salary cap is for ABL.

I think you will be surprised there is no cap......

I thought the salary cap was $15,000 for both men and women combined??? Unless you are certain clubs that is.

It was never put in the by-laws by BSA. It was a gentlemen's agreement between presidents at the time. I would have no doubt that this gentlemen's agreement is being breached by some whether directly or indirectly through various simple means - coach payments being redirected to players by coaches, over the top payments for other "duties" within the club.
