State Vic Coaches for 2015

Am hearing some disturbing news coming from the BV headquarters that despite some genuine coaching talent applying, existing State coaches are being reappointed despite some very questionable performances in the 16 age group. Can anyone shed any light on the truth of the rumour?

Will be very interesting to see how Abdicevic (and the infamous Shufle) goes at 18s at Ballarat. No doubt he is a top coach but he will have two strong NSW teams and a solid QLD South side to come up against in 2015 with a slightly weaker pool of VIC talent to choose from.

Didn't Goodman (U20) and Flynn (U18) both get re-appointed.

Also, U16 Guy who everyone wrote about got the 16 Girls gig.

Surely Jai Cesari did not get reappointed after such a poor performance as judged by many very good and experienced coaches. If it is true and there were well credentialed alternatives, people will truly believe that the BV Boys club exists. My recollection is that Kelly Brezeale had a poor state coach performance and rightly didn't get reappointed so how does a bloke get reappointed after an average performance? Hope no sexism exists....,,

Maybe Shanahan might get a gig? Surely he couldn't stuff up at VMetro level. But then again you can't rule it out with his track record.

^ oh dear! for some and good job for the others lol, do they even look at applications or do they just go through the illusion of putting advertisement out to meet legal requirements but have actually already given the positions out before they advertise?

Who deserves another go? That's the question. So
Message heres my spin for what it is worth.

Under 20 mens and womens definately, no discussion.

Under 18 boys, without doubt, as already posted, he is the best around for that job.

Under 18 girls, made massive selection errors in picking over others in what had to be an under the table deal, this is proven by his not even putting three players on the court in the gold medal game. Should be removed although those who dictated selection should also be removed.

Under 16 boys, had problems when he lost his best player to injury and had no plan B. Probably a little stiff and made some critical coaching errors but should get another go.

Under 16 girls, walked around all week as if he had the gold in the bag, yes he only lost 2 games by 2 points but significant coaching errors at critical times showed that he has no idea and should be replaced.

Don't know about an ex Australian women's player that was mentioned applied for the 16G but if it who I think it is, her VC team has won 2 of there last 9 games so I would doubt she would be considered, but I no for sure a AC WNBL coach applied and obviously missed out.

Boys club at BV? How dare anyone suggest such a thing!!

Anon, did U18 girls win gold????

If they did your argument is completely null and void.

GTF, I think you might have missed my point. The original post was about coaches in 2015 not who won gold. My post was specific about who deserved another go, not who won gold. Winning gold is not the only test as to whether a coach deserves another go. In the 18 girls, there were plenty who were significantly better players who should have been selected in front of Dale West and Jaeger who the coach didnt trust to put on the court in the gold medal game. Bretherton, Ravikuster and Brewster from Melbourne, Hay and Lucas from Knox, Crupi and Dufficy from Diamond Valley, Dorito from Nunawading to name a few. Yes he won gold but IMO doesnt deserve another go

Who are those who 'dictated selections'?

Perhaps he won gold because of his selections and desicions on who he played in that game as from memory it was a hard fought contest with Vic country could have gone either way, so his coaching actually won the game plus the players HE chose, maybe look at it that way rather than having a whine because YOU didn't like HIS selection.

Anon #490121, your kid obviously got cut, get over it.

Reappointing a First year coach that wins gold is a no brainer.

Clearly his selections and rotations were good enough to win the lot!!! Can't ask much more than that.

Ultimate measuring stick is results, not personal opinion no who was better, which is just that, personal opinion.

There will always be debate about selections with a strong field to choose from but the best silencer to critics and best vindication of selection decisions is RESULTS.

Thanks for you OPINION.

Feel free to list you name, coaching experience and the number of training sessions you attended in determining you opinion.

Otherwise you are nothing more than a bitter wanna be, anonomously sitting behind a computer screen writing word that have no real meaning.

It's hard to be critical of U20 and U18 VM boys and girls coaches especially the fact they won. However it's quite easily to have opinions on the 16 coaches. Cesari is beyond arrogant, rude and was a stress head just making his players upset because of his demeanour. As for Coulter cut corners, had kids who never understood plays, was pretty unprofessional and way too casual. Definately had his favourites.

BV need to take some accountability here too. They crucified 16 leve coaches and the appoints what a boys club
