U18 Nationals - Bad luck girls

The SA Metro girls went down tonight in the Grand Final of hte Nationals. Score 56-58.

Apparently NSW Country hit a shot on the buzzer to win.

C. Francis had a big game with 10 points, 18 boards, 5 blocks and 5 steals.

I have seen some of those NSW country girls in action and they are extremely competitive and highly skilled

bad luck girls - we know you are a quality outfit - 2 points is nothing - except winning and losing

winners can laugh, losers can please themselves

too right wnba fan...the NSW Country Girls are a very talented group...although its tough losing a GF (and by such a small margain as well) the SA girls should keep their heads up and look at the positives...they played a great tournament, played such high quality game throughout the week...and knocked Vic Metro off their golden perch ;)...

GREAT EFFORT GIRLS!!!

coming from regional centres such as newcastle (250,000), wollongong (250,0000 - plus all those other 50,000 regional centres - hardly "country" - technically "country" - but not as we know it here in SA

congrats to NSW country

we know there are some Opals amongst our U18 girls

go you good things!

Remember we (SA) were minus Bishop!

Agreed, but Vic Metro were minus 6'2" Louella Tomlinson(Gems), 6'Hayley Munro(Inj) and 6'4" Elyse Penahluna. So we can probably be thankful to have only 1 player missing.

Vic Metro had 10 players - Penaluna never trialled, Munro injured, Tomlinson - Gems.

Brentnall replaced Tomlinson and gave them more muscle, scoring, rebounds and presence than Tomlinson ever would.

So dont go making excuses for Vic Metro as other side had Gems/injuries as well.

Sa Met played poorly in the final and only hit some lucky shots in the last couple of minutes, to get back in the game. They probably played their final in the semi so to speak - and came out very flat.

Penaluna trialled but pulled out half way.

And Tomlinson, Bishop Ellie Manou were the only eligible players not available due to Gems.

But agreed, I'm sure each team had injured players such as SA's did with Erin Personik. That's just something you have to get over.

interesting to read the turnover stats for the U/18 women W.A. Country team. one girl averaged over 11 and coughed it up 19 times in the game against the Vic. Country. her team mates werent much better..

Just to let u know that Ellie Manou didnt plau beacause of injury and not because of GEMS. Although if she was at nationals im sure she wouldve made a huge impact in the N.S.W Metro team.

Also what happened with Munro, someone said she was there? Why didnt she play?

Francis defected to Metro. Bishop was in the gems, but think was going to play with Metro as well.

Munro was injured and replaced by another player.
