It seems the NBL want to grow quickly to 12 teams. Brisbane have been 'announced', also strong word that Tasmania will be back. Certainly need a 2nd Melbourne club, who would be the 4th team/franchise?

Wellington would be a frontrunner for that 4th franchise imo

Surely you are better off moving into new markets.

The melbourne market is hardly exceeding United's ability to satisfy.

Does anyone think having two Melbourne teams might generate some healthy competition in the city again. Home 'derby' nights might spark some passion & interest do you think?
Just askin!!!!

Depends on who it is George, some new team isn't going to make me want to go to NBL games.

Melbourne United have done an extremely intelligent thing by ditching the Tigers name.

They now sponsor the VJBL...any new club that came in would find it difficult to get what little traction there is given the $ sitting behind United.

Word is however, that there is one reasonably high profile member of the basketball staff who has already moved on, dismayed with the lack of organisation and planning from the Head Coach and his assistant...

George, the 90s were a magic time for the home derbies, especially when Drewey was up against Mike Kelly and Jason Smith at the Tennis Centre.

15,000+ fans yelling their lungs out - they were great times!

Personally I would rather see the Dragons back, nothing against the Magic, but just loved the Dragons more...
