Vicki Valk quits BSA

Vicki Valk has followed Paul Arnott with what seems like endless departures from Basketball SA. A real shame as Vicki had plenty of experience and knowledge to give, after barely a year in the position!

Last month they recently advertised a few of the above roles though, and have already filled one position, the Marketing role.

The feeling around the place isn't good by all accounts! I dare say there will be a few more BSA employees to follow, publicity and business profile for the peak body of the sport in this state is definitely at an all time low!

Anyone know her reasons for leaving? was it for a better opportunity or simply because things aren't all rosy at BSA?

BSA needs to make an urgent announcement in regards to all these departures. Show some vision and leadership! To the outsider looking in it seems in turmoil, with quite a lot of significant departures starting with NG late last year.

Who got the Marketing/Comms role? Hopefully they can bring some fresh energy and ideas, revamp the CABL and start getting hoops in this state some coverage.

Come on people. BSA has been overstocked with wooden-tops for a long time. A clean out may not be the doom-and-gloom people here are painting and might just be the start of some positive steps forward so many of us have wanted for a long time now.
Vicki is a loss but until her reasons are public, immediately presuming it is a BSA rift is the usual course for forums, I guess.

Is Arnie still in basketball ?

Reply #495977 | Report this post

Paul is not in basketball operations but in software related to basketball - new Scoring systems etc that have been rolled out - AS Per above "Paul took a role with Sportstec as a Systems Analyst in Sydney"

People don't quit their job after 6 month if things are rosy.

And remember, the fish rots from the head, nothing will change until changes begins at the top.

Things are crook at BSA/SAC. Mr Hubbard probably should put something out to let the members know what is going on. To many really good names posted above to let go.

Total disarray and anarchy is the best way to describe the current situation at BSA-SAC. If you thought things were bad before with Arnie doing the draws then wait for what's ahead.
BSA-SAC are all about $$ not service nor quality of their product. Survey the members and clubs to get their thoughts on the substandard facilities and non-existent development services on offer.
Something has got to give or we may as well close the doors for basketball in this state.

WOW, so many experts here. If you were this interested why not nominate as an independant Commissioner which are rotated every AGM

Because we're not independent as per the guidelines. We actually have vested interest in the sport as members of the sport.

496056 just what do you mean has to give? It would appear at least Arnie and some predecessors have departed for superior employment packages so are you suggesting spending less on staff it will somehow improve the product or service I'm not sure how. More $$ received means more $$ spent on basketball. You are aware facilities cost, development costs.j
